  1. I notice with interest that the Second generation ECHO/ALEXA has ZigBee integration included. I am wondering if this helps with Control 4 in any way? Does anyone have this integrated with their house (the second generation?) I have alexa integrated with my house and we love it. I am simply interested in knowing if the 2nd generation offers any advantages? The DEMO of the 2nd generation shows the command "Alexa show me the front door" and the camera being displayed on Alexa. Can this be done with the first generation? If so - what is required? Does anyone have that implemented? Enquiring minds... Thanks, Bill

    Echo Second Generation

Thanks - Your response is appreciated. I thought that it was also going to act as a "hub" and having two hubs would not offer anything but confusion as well.
  3. I have a Midland Weather Radio - it is connected to my Amplifier 8 in the third port. The code says that when audio is sensed coming in on that port to "Select Weather Radio as the audio source in Living and then sets Active the "Emergency Weather media scene using the last room selected. My problem is that the "when audio is stopped" being sensed never gets activated because the weather radio is always on. I have tried to pause 5 seconds and then deactivate the scene - to no avail. At the moment the only option is to go to the weather radio and reset - This is irritating to my wife who does not do those types of things. Any thoughts would be appreciated - At the moment the only thing that comes to mind is a wall switch that I turn off after ten seconds of activation but - the BATTERY ni the Midland would take over and I do not want to remove the battery as it requires a whole new setup again. There has to be a nice way to simply say, I only want you to play for a maximum of ten seconds. Bill
  4. I have had an Ambient weather WS-2080A integrated with Control 4 using the Extra Veggies driver and it has worked well. The outside unit died and it is discontinued. This unit was tethered to a computer and then I used Cumulus to update a directory on a web site (wunderground.com) which updated Control4. I have now purchased the brand new Ambient Weather WS-2000 Wifi OSPREY solar powered Wireless Weather Station. I am willing to use the Cumulus software to post the information to wundergrund if I can do that - OR I am willing to have the new system interface directly with Control 4. I have read all the posts on the forum and have not yet found the definitive answer of what WILL work. I have the OSPREY which is posting REALTIME to WUNDERGROUND.COM How can I point Control 4 to that data? How can I interface to Control 4? Any ideas? Thanks, Bill

    Weather Radio Announcing

I will give that a shot when I get back into town. Thanks, Bill
  6. I have 14 cameras and use Blue Iris for everything. Can you tell me - since Blue Iris can display on your phone or any other device and email alerts etc. What is it that you "get" by integrating Blue Iris with Control 4? I don't want to miss out on anything. Bill

    Weather Radio Announcing

Thank you for your reply Kevin - That is EXACTLY what I am doing - I have an alert line out and my amplifier "senses" the output when it is triggered. The problem is that if I am out of town I come back and the weather radio is playing all over the house and has been for two days. I want a way to STOP the trigger. I can say "when the input stops sensing audio" but it never stops because the weather radio is always playing. Am I misunderstanding what you are doing? My house actually plays the alert - you hear "There is a tornado watch in the following counties …" and then until I manually turn off Control fours audio it will continue playing the weather radio output for ever. Bill
  8. I love my Alexa and saying "alexa, turn on all speakers" and have my favorite pandora station playing immediately.
  9. One of the coolest things that we did recently was to enable Airplay on Control 4. Setup some standard speakers and volumes and then on your phone, or a visitors phone, or your wifes phone simply play ANYTHING you want - pandora, ANYTHING and swipe up on your apple phone and send it to Airplay. TA DA - you are playing from your phone or your friends phone directly through your house. Just too cool. Bill

    Water Leak Detection

I have had FloLogic now for over a decade. 1. it NEVER false alarms 2. it always works 3. it has saved me many times 4. tech support has always been there even on holidays and weekends 5. its' only downside has already been stated - you cannot turn it on remotely - but - since it does not false alarm - why would you want to?

    Weather station updates

I got the WeatherUnderground driver and got it working - it is very nice.
  12. Composer. I do not know anything about HE so I don’t know if it does this. Pandora is is set up or amazon or your source is set up in C4. Echo simply executes “play bills radio station” and turns on the standard speakers at standard volume. Let me know if you still don’t understand it?
  13. OK - I have AMAZON ECHO in the left side of the screen and when I choose it I have a number of VOICE COMMANDS that I can do - you create these on Systen Design Add Trigger Name (let me know if you don't know how to do that. My trigger name was SPEAKERS ALL. When that is activated the ONE LINE that is executed is: Play Pandora Station: Bills Radio Station In Room(s) Main> Debbies Closet, Main> Living Room, Main > Kitchen, Main> Study..... That is it - The Turn off Speakers all Executes: Turn off Study Turn Off Kitchen Turn off Living Room etc I turn off ALL rooms on turn off because even though I may not have turned them on turning them off is not an issue and makes sure you don't orphan any speakers. Let me know if you have questions - this works a treat. You could have Trigger phrases like: Turn on Speaker Kitchen Turn on Main Set (set ot three speakers for example) If I want to play a specific song or playlist then I use airplay from my phone to play throughout the house from my phone. We recently had a celebration of life at my house for friend that passed. Each person was asked to bring some of their favorite songs and each got to play one song in memory. Each person simply attached to my airplay and it played through out the house while pictures of my friend were on the projection screen in the media room and on all televisions as well. This allowed multiple people to play different songs on my sound system throughout the house.

    Weather station updates

You are making my day! I got it up and running. wow - this is SO MUCH EASIER than my prior set up - so much easier to program. I found my weather station and this just looks and works SLICK! I owe you one. This was simply perfect. THANK you very much for responding - it was extremely helpful and appreciated. This is working slick. Easy to integrate with my solar shades for wind (my main goal). The integration on my app on my phone is really cool as well. I really like this.
  15. I have the following command that work a treat for me - 1. Alexa - turn on speakers all. This turns on Pandora on the last station I used for Pandora (which I can change on my phone if I wish) and sets 12 rooms of speakers on at a preset volume which I can also change on my phone or drop off any rooms I want. Let me know if this sounds interesting to you and I will tell you what I did. You can also set up Control 4 Airplay and simply play what ever you are playing through Alexa through airplay. Or from your phone using airplay.
  16. I have speakers throughout the house. I have several Amazon Echo devices that I can use to turn on Pandora and play it through he house. For example: "Alexa, Turn on Speakers All" turns on 6 rooms speakers and plays my favorite "station" on Pandora. My ask this time is this - I would like to be able to say "Alexa Turn Volume Down" or "Alexa Turn volume up". I cannot see any way to do this. The Speakers all command simply turns on the rooms specified and then plays them at a default volume. I could probably assign a specific volume to each rom for low volume and then assign specific volume for high/loud volume and medium and then have separate commands for high medium or low volume. BUT - I am enamored with the idea that I can have "flexible" volume - i.e. more or less volume on command. The command "Alexa turn on speakers all" executes he following command in Composer. <item><Proxy>pandora</Proxy><Type>Command</Type><DeviceID>1171</DeviceID><Description>#!&quot;Play Pandora station: Bill&apos;s Radio Station in room(s): {Room(s)}&quot;;Room(s)=&quot;DEV:460,229,538,255,455,456,379,341,33&quot;</Description><XmlData><devicecommand owneridtype="" owneriditem="-1"><command>PlayStation</command><params><param><name>Room(s)</name><value type="STRING"><static>460,229,538,255,455,456,379,341,33</static></value></param><param><name>Station</name><value type="STRING"><static>94359757190703841</static></value></param></params></devicecommand></XmlData></item> Any chance someone ahs done this and could tell me how you did it? Thanks, Bill
  17. I would love an example of thinking outside the box - can you give me one, Please?

    Announcements not secure

Well - sheepishly - I was wrong - Evidently when you get to a very large amount of announcements it can take several minutes for the announcements to populate in the announcements tab. So my system is working, since it did not populate the announcements to choose from within a minute or so, I would abandon it thinking it was not working. It was. You just have to wait a very long time.
  19. I am trying to add a new announcement and get the popup that I cannot because the file share is not secure. It says that my file share (loading from a usb drive requires SMB1 and that this will no longer work. Can some one tell me how I can put a sound file out thre that I can then "add" to my announcements?
  20. I have three strings of rope light around the outside of my house as well as ten wall washers (LED lights) (https://www.amazon.com/H-TEK-Controller-Changing-Billboards-Decorations/dp/B07352XBSW/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1532724162&sr=8-10&keywords=led+wall+washer+light) I currently use M Series lighting controller on a computer to control these lights and I would really like to get them into Control 4. It would make programming easier as well as free up a computer. Can someone tell me who can point me in the right direction? What do I need to let Control 4 handle these lights? I don't need real fancy - I would like to do changing colors, and set colors for holidays - red white and blue for July 4th etc. I would really appreciate it if you have done this or know what I need to do if you could give me model numbers and what to order? What drivers do I need etc? Thanks, Bill

    Announcements not secure

OK - Technical support it is then... I simply cannot add new announcements and I cannot see the old announcements either. This happened when we upgraded a year or so ago (I think to 2.9)
  22. OK - My iPhone has the latest updates for Alexa on it. WHERE/HOW do I "update to the latest Alexa skill?" Sorry to plead stupid but in this case it is true. Bill
  23. So - to make this work - what would I specifically need to purchase - could you give me the part numbers and approximate costs? I am interested, just need to know what to do. I think that the LUM-B34XTS-DMX Controllers will still be needed - correct? Then I need one piece of hardware and a driver. If you could tell me where to get the hardware (or model number) and who sells the driver, I would be in your debt. Thanks, Bill
  24. Thanks. I will try that. Not familiar with the driver that you mention however.
  25. I tried this and no matter what I say Alexa responds with "Kitchen doesn't support that." I am on the very latest version of Control 4 and Alexa/Echo software as well. Any ideas what is different in our situations? Again - I use an Alexa command to execute a "Play Pandora command" I simply want to be able to turn up or down the volume of what is playing through the HOUSE SPEAKERS.
