Jaffacree
Is there any way to have my controller notify me if my external IP address has changed?
chicagoskiguy
Not sure about being notified by the controller, but I assume you just want to know the new address. This problem can be solved by using Dynamic DNS. More explanation here:http://howto.wired.com/wiki/Set_Up_Dynamic_DNS
msgreenf
How would your controller know if your public IP changed? Someone would have to write a driver to connect to whatsmyip.com and parse the output, see if it's the same as the old Output, then do some sorta notification. Sounds doable, but why have your C4 setup do that?
Ryanjackson
Ask your dealer. As there is a no-ip (similar to dyndns) driver floating on the dealer forums. Compliments of THEORY. But really you should put your dyndns (or another similar) into your router and have your router update the external service.Ryan
Cyknight
Some routers CAN do this for you via email should you be concerend for some reason. But some form of dynamic dns service or if offered a static IP by your ISP would be better (ISPs usually don't market the option - but quite a few do do this, including sat/direct beam ISPs)I'm guessing you're looking to create a service to remotely connect to your house network?
