alanchow
Chowmain - Event Logging Driver The Control4 Home Automation system has built in logs in the form of debug logs. Unfortunately these logs are used by multiple devices and drivers and have alot on information in it that can be confusing. Sometimes you just want to log if a light turns on or when the security system has been armed. Chowmain has developed a simple to use event logging driver that stores programmed actions in a file stored on the controller. This file can be accessed via an inbuilt web page, via the file share or viewed on any Control4 onscreen, touchscreen or mobile/tablet based user interfaces Features Program an action to log an event and/or variable change. Each log has the time and date. File is accessible via a file share or via a web page. Log upto 2mb of content Access logs remotely using 4sight and Control4's IOS/Android applications Frequently Asked Questions Can you give us some examples of how we could use this driver? This driver is useful in the following situations and much more. * Logging activity in the home. Eg when motion is sensed, lights turn on/off, doors open/close, security system armed/disarmed. * Troubleshooting problematic systems – Eg for systems that turn on automatically for no reason * Monitoring system reboots – Eg programming OnProjectLoaded to see when the system has restarted. * Combine with Free Chowmain Ping driver to monitor internet and device outages. Are there any other cool things we can do with this driver? *Since Extra Vegetables provides a free trial licence for every customer you can essentially use this driver to troubleshoot problematic systems during the trial period. We encourage this usage and deem it extremely useful. If you still want to keep logging afterwards buy a licence. What hardware will this work on? This driver will work on all Control4 controllers capable of running OS versions 2.2 onwards. How do I find out more information about the driver? Svdmerwe
Where can I see examples of how it is used? I want to write a custom defined number variable out. I use the VAR[deviceid, ownerid] way but it does not write the variable value.

Sorry the old version is not available anymore (ceased with EV's closure). We (and almost every other developer out there) have chosen to only support OS version 2.6.0 and above as it supports tighter encryption to protect our IP. cdepaola
Don't worry the NSA has the key to crack the encryption Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
cdepaola
Kinda screws a whole demographic of users who won't or can't upgrade all because of one moron in south America. Especially because I think it's been proven everything is hackable. Making things harder to crack just encourages the hackers. Though there luckily isn't a big reason to hack C4 driversSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Anyway lets keep this topic on track rather than blow it out like every other topic on this forum.
alanchow
UPDATE Version #20151230 - 30-DEC-2015 Added the ability to change the log filename. This in turns lets you add multiple instances of the driver for seperate logs. Added clear log action. This will allow you to programmatically clear the log file

You can setup multiple instances of the driver by changing the Log File Name property to be unique.

I understand and have done that. i want to have icons for each log on the watch screen in the same room - can I do that? Or can there only be one event log per room? So if its a dedicated room to the driver then add in a fake tv and bind the drivers to that fake tv and have the TV as the video endpoint.
