Adidaswood
Hey guys I was doing some work this past weekend and I broke the clips off about 3 rj45 connectors. they don't stay put very well at all anymore. Can someone recommend some terminations tools for the following. if there is an all in one that would be even better. I'll double check on the category types today but for now here is what I am pretty sure I have. Cat5\Cat5e Cat6 sheilded, but Idon't think it is cat 6A Thanks guys. bschlimme
I am no expert but have been building cables for my home for some time. The crimper that msgreenf suggested is a good one. Recently I picked up the following ends and found the "load bars" really helpful to get the wires organized before crimp. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0072JVT0W/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Depends on what type of CAT cable you have though - solid or stranded. Some good videos on YouTube for terminating also.
Adidaswood
any consideration for shielded connectors? do they require a special tool? I'll have to look at the solid or stranded question.

Adidaswood
HI Everyone, I purchased the Klein crimper and 3 varieties of connectors. I practiced on some test wires and all seems fine. However I didn't have any spare Riser that was used in my house for the home runs back to my rack. I cut the broken connector off and started the process to re terminate. I quickly found out the the wires don't fit in the load bars. not even close. Its too fat. The wire says 23 AWG and all the connectors say they will accommodate 23AWG. The connectors I bought say they will accommodate solid wires as well. Frustrated.... Here is the wire that was installed. http://www.berktek.us/eservice/US-en_US/navigate_307466/LANmark_6_FTP_Riser_Category_6_F_UTP.html#description Does anyone have any experience with this wire. it seems like each individual wire's insulation is way thicker than your average cat6. My practice wire was a standard cat 6 patch cord. I tried the cable matters, i tried ideal cat6 3 part modular connectors, I also ordered some shielded cable matters connectors that look like the load bar might work but the crimp tool is clearly going to crush the connector. Its crimping area is different that the other two connectors which my Klein will crimp fine. anyone have any ideas?
Rod Matthews
If the klein crushed the back of the connector this one might be better for the shielded ones http://telexpresslive.com/platinum-tools-12516-tele-titan-2-0-cat6a-10gig-crimp-tool/?utm_medium=googleshopping&utm_source=bc&gclid=Cj0KEQiA-f3CBRCbluKf4vu008kBEiQAl-iGq7-w_MXYWpSSw3Dh2AC-1Lkbya82YTnD1b8r2OnpFKoaAi7O8P8HAQ
Adidaswood
I started drinking during the Broncos game. I'm not sure if it was because they looked so horrible or if I just really like the scotch my wife got me for Christmas. It was probably a little of both, anyway I digress. After about 5 glasses of scotch I was feeling enlightened and realized I could flip the presser bar over on my Klein crimper and this way it would only crimp the pins. I'm not sure what it says about me that I need 5 glasses of scotch to reach enlightenment. Don't answer that. So I woke up early this morning to resume my wiring project. Holy S@!T it worked. The connector had extra strain relief built onto it so it didn't need the back cable grip crimp. by the way here's what I'm working on.
