Will a C4 device show on network before being added by dealer?

Will a C4 IP device (say an EA-1) show up with an IP on my network or as a read-only item in Composer HE, if I connect it to the network prior to a dealer adding the device into the project?

An EA will pull an IP and you probably can connect but the project will be blank so there is nothing you will be able to do. Dimmer is zigbee so that is a no. Will this controller be a primary or secondary device?

 Would be secondary. Thanks...I removed dimmer from question above after I realized that was not possible.

Asking because if have an opportunity to buy a NIB item off eBay that dealer would load when able, I'd want to at least check that it powers up and can register an IP from the router

yes any network c4 device will have an ip once it connects to your network give that it is using dhcp. You can not program or do anything with it in HE until after it is added. If it is not appearing on your network you will need to do a network reset to dhcp.
