Adding an audio zone - Sync question

Recommended Posts

I’ve got 8 outdoor speakers that are powered off of 2 zones on a Control4 amplifier. I want to add 2 more speakers to a different part of the yard. I have power and Ethernet to this part of the yard, but no speaker wire ran from there back to the equipment room.

I’m thinking about adding a “Triad 1” (or some other single zone amp that can output Control4 audio) but curious if it will be able to join the “session” for the other 2 backyard zones and not have any syncing issues. Does that make sense?

Use the CAT cable to extend audio from your rack to that area.  Install 2 Channel amp of your choice.

The CAT cable goes to a 5 port PoE switch in that area that powers my Intellicenter and an IP cam.

i just did this for a client, with the triad one and there is not a sync issue, works very well

Thank you for confirming. And this is true with sources like Airplay, iHeartRadio, etc...?

There should be ZERO sync issues between a triad one and a 'simple' (ie no surround or other encoding/decoding) controller to amp setup (eg, EA5 to 8 zone matrix amp, or via a C4/triad matrix)

Thanks Cyknight. To clarify, I'm going to add one of these: https://www.control4.com/docs/product/triad-one/triad-data-sheet/english/latest/triad-one-triad-data-sheet-rev-b.pdf

That is going to power a DVC that I'm putting as a surface mount on the outside of my pool bath. The rest of the zones are powered straight off the hardwired, whole home audio system. The way it is right now, if you want to hear it in the actual water, you need to CRANK the volume on the deck. I just want to add this wall mount DVC so that I can hear the music in the pool. It needs to be in-sync though. Since it's a streaming amp I figured it might introduce delay.

While it's a streaming amp, It's a 'C4' streaming amp. Meaning the system will make sure it's output is in sync (ie it may delay everything by a few ms to match it up)

Perfect. It should be here tomorrow and I'm excited to get it all setup!

Cheap solution, should work. (depends what os do you have).  take 1 old HC-250 connect it to internet, connect any stereo amp to audio output. connect your speakers. Im not sure for 100%, but you shouldn't have any delay.
