just bought a home with c4

Recommended Posts

I just moved into a home that has a c4 setup, mainly for whole house audio.  The seller had the unit playing audio throughout the house when i was there just a few weeks ago, but when i turned on the unit today (just got my fios internet setup), i went over to the control 4 touchpad and all i see is add a system or network settings?  Do i need to get a dealer involved? For now, I am not looking to expand the system, just want to run it like it was a few weeks ago.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  I will look up the model numbers and post them tomorrow.  There is a controller and a multiroom audio distribution/amplifier.

System is probably a little messed up due to changing out the network...depending on whether they were using the ISP router or their own router, if that equipment was left behind, etc.  You'll probably need a dealer to review the setup and make some changes potentially.  PM me if you need help, I've helped several others in this situation get up & running.  I am a remote dealer/programmer.

thanks

They were using a verizon fios router, i am also doing the same, but it is not their router, they returned theirs and I just got a new Verizon fios router.  In terms of equipment,  c3-16amp3-b; C4-hc800-bl-1; c4-hc250-bl-1a

Thanks

Ankuse, this is a common problem and has been covered a few times on the forum. Best is to find a good friendly remote dealer/programmer who will help you transfer the system and make it yours.

I suggest you do a quick search on the forum. A few options will be available to you and several of them will come highly recommended by other folks like you (and me...). There are some great installers on this forum and they will help you in no time. A good practice is always to contact 2-3 and share your situation/need with them. You can decide from there the best fit for you. 99% of the work does not require a local programmer and usually you will find much better service at better cost on this forum than via a local company... At least, it has been my personal experience.

Good luck and don't shy away from asking the most basic questions on the site as you start "playing" with your system (once you have access to it of course...). It can do pretty much anything you want!

Your equipment is older but the only obsolete piece is the HC-250.  That means that you can't upgrade past 2.10.6 unless you replace the HC-250.  The amp is older but those devices are solid and long lasting so you should be good with that. You can continue to use an HC-800 as your primary controller and upgraded to the latest and greatest version.  OS3 has a nicer UI than the OS that you will be on.  You may not need the HC-250

What music service do use?  There are some that are native to C4, which means that you could select the music directly in the c4 app.  Other services like Spotify have partial integration but work pretty well.  The worst in terms of integration is Apple Music.

Where is the HC-250 located?  By one of your TVs?
