If it has IP control then someone can create a driver for full C4 integration.

With digital media C4 will scan your media and lookup all the data...what do you ned the Dune to have anything to do with meta data for?

You can send a 'media URL ' to the player where the file is located, and the player will play thet file.

There is also a command that lets you hide and unhide the OSD. This would get a better integration with C4 ( when using the 'media url ' and not the menu structure of the dune )

i have received the IP firmware for the DUNE MAX and all other players today and will be testing it this week.

Yep. I'd be interested in such a driver...;)

Search would be the "killer" for me  But it would need to be reliable. (Hint)

IR control is already very good. The fact that you can put your movie folder almost exclusively right up on the main Dune menu is pretty neat. Only 2-3 clicks and you are playing a movie :)

Well I don't to overpromise and underdeliver (that always frustrates me too) but the official press release with all of the data and pricing is not complete and we'll be on a jobsite all day tomorrow. However, I'll go ahead and go over the generalities for this forum but I'm not posting on AVSforum or anywhere else yet.

Basically, if you go to our site at www.diamondhomedesign.com you will see what is up. We have become an HDI distributor, getting about 100 units in over the winter to start. We've already received the IP firmware and the IP instruction set for programming. I have an actual unit with IP control on it running on the way to me. Our new online store will retail and wholesale (to approved dealers) all dune units (sorry no Control4 hardware). If you buy the units from us the driver will be 100% free. If not, the price will depend on how long it takes to develop but I don't expect it to be too much at all having looked at the code and the instruction set. We can also plan on providing USA warranty work, board upgrades, etc. Besides the C4 driver, you will notice the site references a rack mount kit. We are already in the process of making a rackmount kit for the Max and may make one for a 3-unit smart system and 2-unit smart system as well. We haven't decided yet if they will be black anodized or black powder coated yet but probably powder coated.

Dont rip your emitter off just yet though. We have a big job we are trying to finish out (they homeowners are moving in this weekend and want us 100% done and out), we've got to finish the e-commerce site, and finish the driver.

We are a Netgear partner (we only carry 4 switches for C4 installs now - all Netgear either managed or unmanaged, none PoE but use LanPower for midspan 1U rackmount). We just stopped with Dell and Cisco switches (still using Cisco routers). Anyway we will get partner pricing on the Netgear 550 and will probably put it on our site as well but a nice 1U unit with a quality disc player built-in pushed us to this project with Dune.

Edit to add an FYI that I used the company name when registering (to generate google spider hits) but my name is James. In case you e-mail, etc.

Although we are still working on it, I wanted to clarify that it will not be released prior to the firmware being released by HDI. I am not authorized to provide beta firmware. Until you get the firmware, it will be of no use. Hopefully the new firmware will be out in late Dec. or January (that is not their dates, just a guess by me).
