daveva
Is there an issue with control4 on these locks? Gokeyless canceled my order and gave me a refund. They told me C4 had an issue with the locks.
mcC4
Did they say what the "issue" was? I'm not aware of any problems.

nikon
I believe that only Control4 dealers sell the zigbee locks that work with Control4. The normal ones which are sold elsewhere do not have zigbee and would have a problem as they cannot communicate. If they do sell the Control4 compatible ones I am also curious what the issue is. ichbinbose
there are no issues above and beyond the random RA just like every other product. only Control4 dealers can sell control4 products, including the doorlocks
mcC4
Correct. I read the post too quickly and assumed it was a dealer that cancelled your order and said there was a problem C4 and Kwikset locks.
daveva
He may have meant that there was a issue between them and control4. But the way that it came across to me was that there was an issue control4 had with the kwikset locks and that is why I posted here to find out. So now I will call a dealer and order one. RyanE
There certainly would've been a problem with it, as they would only have a Z-Wave version of the lock.RyanE
daveva
Not true, when I called and asked for the zigbee they assured me that they could get it. He said it would take a few more days because it would have to come from the manufacturer as they didn't keep the zigbee on stock.
RyanE
As far as I know (and what I've heard), the ZigBee version is *ONLY* sold by Control4 dealers.Obviously, I could be mistaken, but I don't think so.RyanE
ILoveC4
Not true, when I called and asked for the zigbee they assured me that they could get it. He said it would take a few more days because it would have to come from the manufacturer as they didn't keep the zigbee on stock. This is probably the problem they observed. They can't get one because they aren't a Control4 dealer.
rydbeckc
Standard version is $95 on amazon. C4 version lists for $349. Looks identical. Yikes

RyanE
The Zigbee card, which is the difference, you cannot purchase separately. It's not available anywhere except as part of the lock sold by a Control4 dealer.RyanE
earo
Do you know if you can just slide in the Zigbee card? My contractor installed the lock, not knowing it wasn't C4 enabled. My dealer then purchased a lock and I'm wondering if I can just slide the ZigBee card in. It appears as if it's that easy. I know installing a lock isn't that big of a deal, but obviously installing the card is much simpler. I've got the Baldwin variant. Thanks. RyanE
I don't know, it's possible the firmware in the electronics of the lock may be running a different version than the 'stock' units.Sorry I don't have the answer for that.RyanE
ichbinbose
its really not that hard to swap out the exsiting lock for the C4 one.
earo
@ichbinbose: likely true, and it shouldn't have been hard to install the first one either, but somehow my contractor managed to install it incorrectly the first time causing the lock to permanently malfunction. maybe i'll install the next one myself to avoid any problems!
