I think you’re over dramatizing a rather simple situation. All my clients want to do is power cycle certain equipment ie reset the outlets, not turn them off then on in discrete commands. They don’t consult the driver for the state of the equipment. For that purpose the driver is perfectly adequate.

I don’t think it’s dramatic at all.  There are times I need/want to control an outlet from C4 and I absolutely want to know if/when particular devices go offline.

For what SnapAV charges for the Wattbox line a driver that actually works properly isn’t much to ask.   It’s pretty sad to have to put a piece of equipment on a cheap device like a Kasa plug just to get two way status.

But if the OS tries to start up drivers and other activities before it has completed initialization the network interface then I would call that the fault of the OS.

I wonder if this could potentially be fixed by changing settings - maybe the network initializes faster if a static IP is set rather than using DHCP, even DHCP with a res.  @jfh - do you have a static IP for the controller?

No, it’s a DHCP reservation.  I can try a static IP

You should really reach out to the developer to get that fixed.  Since it’s unable and youve purchased the driver

Already did that.  It’s unlikely any updates are going to be available, which is why I asked the original question.

One of the risks of being dependent on third-party developers.  Ihave nightmares about Chowmain going out of business Alan, di I hope you’re doing well ... ;)

  4. I have an issue with a driver (name not important) that developed a small problem after a controller migration from an EA5 to CA10.  The driver will not run after a controller reboot unless the license key is reentered (I just delete the last character, add it back and hit set) at which time the driver activates.  The driver is a stand-alone driver and doesn’t use one of the big guys licensing hubs.  There probably aren’t going to be any updates and I’m not interested in other approaches- I want to use this particular driver.

Could a specialized driver be written so that when a device specific command was run the license key could be programmatically updated?  Or code that could be run on the controller after a reboot?

if yes, is anyone interested in the challenge?

I used the original driver, dated 2016 and even though it says "valid ip address" it is actually connected.  I added relay drivers and bound them and all is working, but it still says "valid ip address" when it should say "got status ok", threw me off for 2 days.  I also have the "no content headers" in the LUA, but it still works correctly. This is only working one way tho

Yup.  Me too.  Works fine despite all the messages in debug indicating otherwise.

Can you make the outlets show up as buttons on the Navigator?  What does that end up looking like (screen shot)?

What is the best practice for where you put the outlets - almost seems like you'd want to make a separate room, or use the "Rack Room" to put all of that stuff in that you don't often touch....

Yes you can put buttons on the nav if you use an experience button otherwise they are on the relays screen.  What the button looks like depends entirely on the experience button you use.

I have a “Rack Room” room exactly as you suggest, but it’s all about what works best for you.

Sorry to be a noob, but what does the WattBox driver do?  I have one of these IP controlled WattBox units but I was only aware that it would work through OvrC (which is dreadful) to reboot an outlet.  OvrC is especially dreadful because if (*when) you lose internet you can no longer reboot any component through OvrC - ill thought at best...

What am I missing with the Control4 driver?  Where does the WattBox show up and what can you control?

Well, right now it does nothing because no one can apparently get the driver to work. ;)

But the driver allows you to run events if an outlet turns on/off, you can recycle any/all outlets or turn on/off individual outlets.  (Each outlet needs a generic relay connected.  The old drivers had predefined bindings; the more recent WattBox driver looks like it will dynamically generate them based on the WattBox model.)

  8. Yeah, C4 WYSIWYG is a real PITA if you are a real programmer.   ;)

Could do some awesome stuff if it supported dynamic variables and arrays.

But after you get used to it there are some workarounds.  And it’s certainly better than trying the When/If web based mess.

Ready to throw in the C4 towel and donate $100k of electronic waste.

Dealers and C4 support unable to help fix 3 yr old system.

    Post your details.

There are some great dealers and very knowledgeable users on this forum.  I’m sure your system issues can be addressed.

Assuming you're getting the Automate Pulse 2.  Found it here https://www.avoutlet.com/window-treatments/shade-components/motorized/remote-controls/rollease-pulse-2-mobile-device-interface/.  I ordered a lot of my shade parts from them and they have been great to work with.

Yup. That’s where I got mine.

Pulse V2 has been a significant improvement over v1.  With the Annex drivers the shades just work.  I’d like to see some minor improvements in the drivers but using the Rollease motors saved me a boatload of money.

Rebooting my EA-3 has things working fine again. Still not seeing time stamps on the history page of IOS app. Do you see the same jfh?  For now, I’m not going to worry about it.

Also, supposedly you can integrate the DoorSense feature of August into C4. Will it then show if the door is opened or closed too?

I see the timestamp on the history page of iOS.

Cant speak to DoorSense because I didn’t install it.  I have a regular contact sensor on the door.

In order to get to that detailed history screen you would need to press and hold on the lock and then select manage lock, which takes you into the user management and history screen that you see in their screenshots on the driver web page.

Very cool.  Never knew that was there.  I can see my August history.

I probably missed it because it doesn’t seem to work on the iOS ap, just on a real T3.

  13. I see the claim in the driver ad but don’t see how that’s done.  The lock item with the history screen isn’t the August driver, it’s the generic door lock relay.  If you press it, it should toggle the state of the August lock from lock to unlock or vice versa.  The ‘history” part is just the date/time of the last state change, not the list of August lock activities.

If you are supposed to see the actual August activity history (which would be great) I have no idea where you do that and there is no information on that in the Cinegration Install doc (I have driver version 2001)
