    Sony OLED

Just got a new Sony 65" Class BRAVIA XR A80J Series OLED 4K UHD Smart Google TV. It was an impulse buy when I was in the store and they have a flash sale. We needed the TV since we sold all the electronics with the house, but I worried all the way home since I normally research things to death before buying. Very pleasantly surprised. Picture quality is really amazing. I can't comment on C4 integration because that was also sold. When the AppleTV switched to Dolby Vision, it was a "wow" moment. Not having the SR-260 wand was frustrating... until we got this TV. While the remote is not perfect (no backlighting!), it seems to be the closest thing to a universal remote right out of the box. It is the only remote we use except for voice search on AppleTV. But the Dish hopper, AppleTV and everything else we connect to it seems to get auto-identified and the remote controls it. It is a strange mix of Google and Apple. The Airplay 2 in the TV turned my older soundbar into an Airplay 2 speaker. But voice commands to the remote control the TV, which is in HomeKit, so the commands get passed along somehow -- even when it might think it isn't supported. Very thin, so we'll see how durable it is.
  2. Considering a Synology NAS to replace my Drobo 5D (not a NAS). I don't have any experience with streaming from a NAS with C4 or otherwise. I will be streaming old home movies, and the vast majority are SD or DVD quality. There are a plenty of HD movies, also. I'm thinking the Synology 1520+ will be more than adequate. Am I missing anything? Thanks.
  3. Yes. In my case, we've never setup "Listen" favorites because we don't use C4 to start listening to music. We just airplay it to the VSSL, ATVs, or AVRs. "Now Playing" showing up on the Apple Watch in any room with audio would probably do what I want. It does this without any special phone setup. So I would think it wouldn't be too hard with the Apple Watch.
  4. So far it is nice to have access to scenes and to augment the remote (SR260) for calling up favorite TV stations or streaming services. I was hoping Favorite "Listen" items would show up. They show up in the iOS app but not the watch. I might be doing something wrong. We often have someone in the family start streaming music, on the porch for example, but nobody else has control of volume or skip. If it showed up on our watch, we could change volume or skip a bad song. Being able to do this on the C4 app is nice. Adding it to the watch would be nice.
  5. No worries. @chopedogg88 got me fixed up. I had forgotten how to add something to favorites from the (4) menu in the app. I'm all set. This is a game changer for us.
  6. I can only "Arrange and Remove" favorites. The other rooms don't have "Listen" or "Watch" options in the navigator, just lights, comfort, etc. But nothing to watch or listen to in those rooms. Is that an issue? No way to control lights with the watch?
  7. It's February. Anyone seen or used this hardware? Anything to share?
  8. I only get one room on my watch. I favorited 4 rooms but I can't swipe between rooms on my watch. I can on my iPhone, but not the watch. I killed all the apps (both on the phone and watch) and rebooted both. Same results. Only 1 dot at bottom of watch screen and one room showing. Any ideas appreciated. Director version 3.2.3.606460 (Sep 13) The apps are up to date as of this morning. I'll ask @chopedogg88 to update my system to the latest, maybe that will do it?
  9. I'd be interested in pricing info on the Sunnata/RA3 dimmers and switches.
  10. Anyone have the new RA3 processor and the new light bar dimmers? Curious if the integration is as smooth as the caseta pro bridge and caseta dimmers/switches?
  11. What I like: The physical light switches that can be engraved. They are more tactile than the completely flat Lutron switches. I have lots of 4 gang switches that could use engraving. But then again, not sure four C4 dimmers would fit w/o overheating. (I defer to others for this.) The dealers here on the forum are responsive and talented. SR-260 Wand Remote -- although it looks outdated, it works and is a lot better than a NEEO in my opinion. I own both and the NEEO just sits there looking pretty. Works with a lot of stuff, even competing products like Lutron. So far Control4 OS updates have been "free" -- but you have to pay a dealer to do the upgrade. You don't have to go all-in. (See below about cost) I have an EA-3 controller, SR-260 remote, NEEO remote and that's all. The rest are more economical or better performing products that integrate into C4. What I don't like: Good local dealers can be hard to find and not responsive. All-in costs for a whole-home system can be very expensive. "Approved" WiFi and networking hardware can be expensive but necessary to make it work well. No voice control or voice passthrough on the C4 remotes. Therefore I pick up the Dish remote to tune to obscure channels or the AppleTV remote to make Siri requests. No integrated geo-fencing that I'm aware of. NEEO isn't zigbee, so WiFi dependent. Airplay solution is laggy. Audio hardware is overpriced for what it is.
  12. Thanks to Mitch @msgreenf for recognizing that I was due a free replacement and many thanks to Ari @chopedogg88 for making it happen, SnapAV replaced my defective unit free of charge. I can't thank you guys enough. I'd be out of the C4 game if it weren't for Ari and all the dealers willing to help on this forum.
  13. Why not have a SmartTV app that mimics the C4 OSD? Every TV is smart, but I don't need an EA1 (or better) connected to each TV. I've decentralized my video when I moved, both out of necessity and convenience. Having to add a controller to each TV just to get the OSD is overkill. An app would be more than good enough.
  14. Any experience with a combination UPS and remote reboot device? Seems like the perfect time to add a UPS. Would a combination unit be wise?
  15. My search has turned up no results for finding what I thought was discussed here. My Wattbox has failed. Don't have the receipt and the dealer that sold it to me won't respond, so at this point I'm looking for a replacement. Any suggestions? I can get by with as few as 4 switched outlets. Would prefer 6. Thanks.
  16. Everything on the same SSID as control4? If not, wouldn't that be the same as remote access?
  17. She re-arranged her patio furniture to be more of a barrier and I set the sprinkler zone to come on at various times for just 1 minute during the evening. Don't really know if this worked as they've been busy eating at our neighbors for a while now.
  18. What companies (or former companies) are covered under this stock?
  19. Might have to as they are out in broad daylight now. I was just going to set them to go off at night with any motion because we'd only seen them on the cameras at night. If they're going to eat everything in the daytime, going to have to figure something else out. Thinking about bringing home an electric fence charger from the ranch and running the wire just over the top of her flowers. Maybe a couple of pops on the snout will run them off.
  20. I wish that would work but the shape, size, and location -- a fence just isn't feasible. They jumped over our 5' fence in Kerrville no problem, so I'm not real sure it would work anyway.
  21. I'll bet that's it. Swapped out a Pioneer AVR for the Denon. Thank you.
