  1. You need to start w/ a DVR and then look at integration between the DVR and C4. We tried numerous (Dahua, Blue Iris, Unifi, and Synology). For us Security Spy was the overwhelming winner for both capability and reliability. The Security Spy C4 driver gives you some nice capabilities to see the cameras on C4 touchscreens like having the front door cam come up when the doorbell rings.
  2. Is it possible to install and program multiple Hue bridges in a C4 system? (Or does anyone know of a reliable repeater option?). We were not able to come close to getting all of our Hue to be seen from a single bridge and tried numerous locations for the bridge. We also tried a couple of different repeaters without good success. So, we've got our Hue lamps (all GU-10) in two batches; one in the lower level and one in the loft. The Hue app can see both bridges and all lamps though only one bridge at a time. Thanks,
  3. I did come back after a 2nd reboot. I'm guessing the capacitors in the T3's POE PS had just enough juice that it didn't reboot after my first attempt and just needed to be unplugged longer.
  4. A couple of days ago both of our T3's went offline, indicated no ethernet connection and no IP address. However, they both appear normal in UI controller and both respond to pings. I disco'd them at the switch for a couple of minutes and plugged them back in. One came back but the other still indicates offline. Tried it again and same result. Nothing else on the switch is offline or having problems, just the two T3's and they appear to have both gone offline at about the same time after not having ever done this before. Has anyone else seen this? Any ideas what it could be? Thanks,
  5. So C4 doesn't provide a native way to do this? Seems like a very basic function that should exist. Thanks though.
  6. As I mouse from one thing to another these things are popping up all over the place. It's like a bunch of flashes going off in your face. Just now scrolling down across a few things I got about 7 or 10 or them. They'd be fine if they only popped up after hovering for a few seconds but on my machine they're popping up in ms.
  7. Thanks. I get 20-30 of these headache producing things per minute while using HE. Ugh!
  8. I'm trying to do something similar except from a button on a remote. I have a custom button that creates a session: Select the channel..."..." in Kitchen Add rooms 'Foyer, Living Room, ... I'd like to turn this session off from the remote in the Living Room. If I turn off the kitchen (from where the session was originally created) then only the kitchen turns off, not the session nor other rooms that were added. Does the Room Control Driver do something to allow this? Is there a good way to do it without the Room Control Driver? My programming mind says that when the session is created that I should be able to stuff a session ID in to a variable and then for the button I would kill the session using what's in the variable to know the session ID to kill. But that doesn't appear to be the case w/ C4. Thanks,
  9. As I move around the screen in HE there are a gob of annoying popups. As you move over stuff EVERY device and EVERY room and EVERY event produces a useless little popup of useless information. I can't find a way to turn these off. Thanks,
  10. Thanks. Yeah, a lot of stuff does just fine outside of the official specs, some not so much, some things just stop working at low temps and come back while some things stop working and never come back. -30°c (-20f) is not unusual here. I should maybe consider a small heated cabinet of some sort for the electronics.
  11. This is an unheated building in Minnesnowta. Any idea how Casetta or TP-Link/Kasa handle extremely cold or hot temps?
  12. We had consistent problems w/ the C4 thermostats. They swapped them out numerous times with little to no improvement. A friend had a similar experience. They worked fine for another gal I know. We wanted to avoid them for our new house so some research... Our integrator loves Ecobee but recommends against them if they are to be in a C4 installation and said if we installed them he'd do initial setup but any further support would be full hourly rate. HVAC folks were very strongly against Nest as they apparently do unpredictable things that confuse homeowners and frustrate installers. We ended up w/ Honeywell Redlink and six Prestige IAQ thermostats (three each on two systems). Worked great as a system and with C4 (including a number of programming bits to control them) for about 3 months. Haven't worked right since. LOTS of communication errors with thermostats. C4 integration works, doesn't, works sort of, doesn't... We just migrated from Honeywell's TCC to Honeywell Home which seems to be working better but C4 integration is still wonky. Redlink and Honeywell controllers in general are extremely antiquated. @Hizzle, I'd like to hear more about your experiences.
  13. Often simpler is better - Away button. Home is triggered by an external door being unlocked when in away mode and has different actions depending on ToD.
  14. Thanks for the info. We'll already have 2 pro bridges so I'm assuming a 3rd wouldn't be a problem. If a bridge can hang off the IP network and we'll already have a bunch of Casetta it might be best to pay the few extra $'s and not have to deal with knowing another interface.
  15. @videostorm, can 3rd parties develop apps for a tile or can those only be done internally? How much customization can be done within a tile? - If someone came to our front door can it pop up the two cams that cover that area? - Could I customize a weather tile to include air quality info? How difficult to pull data in from other sources like from a TSI Assure AQM or IQAir AVP? - Can the C4 app be a functional PIP? - Create a tile for Security Spy NVR? Plans for IOS and TVOS versions? Thanks,
  16. I've not seen anything even remotely close to what I've described. Where is it? This is very close to what we'd like to see. Or put another way - good enough. Cool app. Sad, very very sad I understand the complications with doing this but it would be a great feature/capability to have. OTOH, IOS already does it quite well from an OS standpoint. An IOS version of Splash-Tiles might be the trick. Even though we're a heavy Apple ecosystem Splash-Tiles just might cause me to buy an Android device or two. One more pro to using an IOS device vs T4 is other apps that would be convenient to access from wall mounted iPads. Security Spy for more granular viewing of surveillance, Apple music for playing tunes, web browser for whatever, ...
  17. A PRO to using an iPad rather than T3/T4 is a much better screensaver experience with more capabilities. What C4 are doing currently is exceptionally antiquated and anemic. The album art is about priority # 12,485 for me. Nice but not even remotely critical. The screensaver (not technically a screensaver on IOS but an app that provides a screensaver role) is on about 99% of the time - that's some pretty valuable real estate. And valuable real estate that, unfortunately for C4 users, C4 are not taking advantage of. I, and I think many others, would gladly pay for an app that provides some solid capabilities. Today on an iPad I can have the Security Spy app doing some of this - scrolling through a list of cameras or a matrix of 2, 4, 6, 9, 12 or 16 cameras. However, I'd like to also see weather, ideally across the bottom with current conditions and x days of forecast (others might prefer weather in a panel square). A panel of C4 stuff and a button to bring up the C4 app would be extremely beneficial. On one iPad I might have 6 custom buttons in a C4 panel. On another maybe two C4 panels with custom buttons in one and media sessions in the other. So the ideal 'screensaver app' or whatever it'd be called, would give me the option of numerous panel configurations and then let me choose what I want in each panel. Even within the app each panel could be a sub app with various capabilities.
  18. Thank you. We'll have a UI U6-LR AP in the shed so WiFi won't be a problem. Kasa seems the best solution. How does a Casetta bridge talk to an EA-x? IP? WiFi? Zigbee? Other? Thanks,
  19. I'm not fully understanding the lag. From a programming standpoint the driver s/b able to call for a state change and, since it knows it just did that, immediately verify the change. We're currently using the Chowmain LIFX driver and are quite underwhelmed. They are using the LIFX cloud which results in variable delays and commands sometimes not executing. They also do not allow for controllable or smooth fades. Given higher priorities we've just lived with it thus far. To their credit Alan did say that they'd give us our money back if we wanted which after a year of use we'd not do. I am hoping to try the Axon Engineering LIFX driver to see if it's better.
  20. Currently just RA for shades. We're installing Casetta for lighting loads in our studio (separate building but same network) and also Casetta's in our house for landscape lighting. For landscape the Casetta's will be installed in the mechanical room with tails dropped outside for the landscape folks to connect their xformers. Central dimmers are all C4 (I'd wanted Lutron but got a deal on the C4).
  21. Agree. For me fixing a security hole is #1, fixing a critical bug is #2 and gaining a needed capability is #3. On my home network I only recently did any updates after 13 months and that was not to the latest and greatest but to several month old known stable versions (UDMP to 1.9.1). However, it can also be a pain to get too far behind as the jump can be problematic.
  22. For me 2 & 3 are pros. The screensaver and integrated weather capabilities from C4 are quite anemic. iPad provides for much greater capability for both and more importantly all of the 3rd party stuff that's out there or is yet to come. I've not yet done much with this due to being overloaded with other stuff but we're planning to rely on older iPads for our studio rather than T3/T4's so will be jumping in with both feet in a few weeks. I think the biggest issue for us will be figuring out a way to avoid the startup delay without using a kiosk type mode. E.G., some way for the C4 app to think it's staying focused even if something else has focus. For our needs a good screensaver might be a solution. Something that provides some cameras from Security Spy, weather across the bottom, and other stuff might do it. It seems there are some great opportunities for 3rd party developers to do some stuff here.
