I have had exactly the same problem.  I am 90% sure that this started when the latest driver for the DS2 was released and at  about the same time as OS3.1.
Interestingly, I have a DS2 and a DS2 mini.  the DS2 works fine but I have this issue on the Mini.  Both are on the latest firmware and have the same driver.
Maybe someone at C4 ( @jakblak) will be able to guide us.  My dealer is at a loss although he has our in-country C4 rep coming to look later this week...

It should be a HUGE pain to get out once installed (there's a tool that is normally required to get it out. The cable shouldn't be your issue though, unless it's somehow bunching up instead of folding back flat.
 
First guess would be that the back box is warped (not properly cut out, or overtightened)

I would agree with cyknight, the backbox has to be cut in where it slides in and out snug, not loose, and not tight, then dont overtighten the backbox wings or will suck into the wall a little bit which will cause it not to lock in properly. when putting in the power box don't overtighten those screws either or it will bend ,once it locks in properly its not coming out easily

Could there be a way to still utilize Door Stations with limited functionality? a custom driver or something to save these.
