I would recommend using a standalone 2.4g network for these remotes separate from the Clients Wifi.  That's right 2.4g only.   That way the remote does not switch back and forth between the 5g and 2.4g network.

I did this and it has helped a good bit but they still have to be restarted every day or two. I am surprised this is still a problem. Anybody have any ideas of an ETA on the firmware date that should resolve this issue?

If an Apple-centric client, I know you can use Shortcuts to kick off actions based on connecting/disconnecting to a selected Bluetooth device.   It could be anything.  So you could buy a cheap bluetooth device for each person you want to track entering the target room, pair it to the phone and then, when you walk into area, it would connect and then you could program off this connection event.  For example, you could then toggle a dummy device in HomeKit that was synced to C4 via HomeKit bridge driver and do your further programming on C4 side.  Not elegant (to say the least), but depending on how many rooms/people you want to track, you could, in theory, make your magic happen this way.  Obviously not viable to track 20 people and 20 rooms.  But 2-3 people and 2-3 rooms (not within bluetooth range of each other), then maybe doable?

Do you guys have any specific recommendations for this? I have tried buying a few BT products to see if I could get it to work but all of them turn off after a certain amount of time. Any advice would be appreciated.

  3. Our Shade 1 (Hunter Douglas Powerview) in the Master Bathroom has always had a strange issue that only happens if the director has been restarted or the shade has had the command to go up at some point in the day. In these cases, after you put the shade back down, within 20-30 minutes, it will go back up. This happens all the way until sunset and then doesn't happen anymore until the director is restarted or you send the shade up command.

I have dug around composer for many hours trying to find programming that would be doing these and am unable to find anything (I have created many logs, emails, and other alerts to try to track it down). I suspect this is Hunter Douglas/Powerview sending the signal and not Control4.

The one thing that seems odd and wonder if it is contributing is that the *Current Position* of the master bathroom shades (all 4 of them) is 0 when closed (like all of the others in the house) but 45-55 when opened (all of the others in the house are 100). Even though all of the other master shades are like this, only shade 1 has the issue. I have tried recalibrating the shade based on HD's instructions but that didn't change anything.

Any ideas? I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction because it is driving me crazy not being able to find and correct the issue. Thanks in advance for your time.

  4. In case anyone has this issue in the future... I was able to fix the time by logging into the DS2 control panel on the network (use the IP Address and login credentials noted on the Front Door Station driver), go to System --> Date & Time --> check the "Use NTP Server" option. Then save and reboot the system. I initially saved it and it would revert to the wrong time in less than an hour. I then saved it and rebooted the device (System --> Maintenance --> Restart Device). Now the time seems to be fixed permanently.

  5. We are having a similar problem where the Samsung TV IP Control Driver doesn't consistently turn the TV on in the morning (about 80% of the time it doesn't work). When it doesn't turn on, I can't get it to turn on without manually turning it on. Once I manually turn it on, it will then respond to the on/off commands consistently.

My TV is a year or two old and has worked great up until about a month ago. Please post here if anyone finds a resolution. Thanks.

  6. If you want a cheap alternative that you can do yourself, use an outdoor motion detector that connects with IFTTT with @alanchow's IFTTT driver for detection. I use this for motion detection throughout our property to trigger events and it works great for the most part. I had @alanchow's Hikvision driver installed but my dealer was unable to ever get the motion detection to work with Control4. That is when I found the YoLink outdoor motion detection and have been happy with the results.

  7. For my system I was able to find an indirect way to do this but it has worked well. I use the DISPLAY_TEXT variable to monitor the events and then take appropriate actions based on them. I initially had it send me an email for each event so I could start defining the display text with the event. Once I got these, I coded the ones out that I don't user or already have actions associated with them. Not sure if it will work for your setup but has been great for me since I don't have to get my dealer involved.
