isight
Hi everyone, I'm new to control4 and this forum has been an amazing resource! I have not done any lighting control yet. I have a few electronic devices/lamps around the house that are directly plugged into the wall socket. Any recommendations on how best to control them? Don't need a dimmer for this, just on/off. The WEMO switch or something of the like seems like a very cheap alternative to the control4 outlet switch. Will this integrate just as well as the control4 outlet switch with the appropriate driver? msgreenf
Wemo or tp link are both great and require a paid per project driver but unlimited instances per project. I am happy to discuss more via pm if you are interested Sent from my BBF100-2 using Tapatalk
Matt Lowe
for the lamps i really like Phillips hue, or lifx bulbs. no need to have any big ugly plugs on the wall and can get RGB color control too!
tdougray
Wemo switches are great but you will need to have a fair few of them to justify the driver price. If it is just the lamps you want to control I would too say philips hue. free driver and integrates really well. Just remember they need to be always on to have control. alanchow
We have several solutions for outlets. All of these are wifi based so they do not require a hub. Belkin Wemo - https://www.chowmainsoft.com/belkin-wemo This solution is the best for individual outlet control if you require instantaneous feedback from outlets as the wemo's send feedback directly back to the driver. This is useful for manual control over the outlets and more importantly energy feedback. This energy feedback can be utilised for various applications but my favourite is to power on and off your AV system for non controllable devices such as turntables, playstations, xbox's, etc. Orvibo Wiwo s20 - https://www.chowmainsoft.com/orvibo-wiwos20 This is probably the cheapest you're going to get for IP controllable outlets. Unfortunately though the s20 arn't readily available anymore so it'll be hard to find. Note this is one way control. TP-Link - https://www.chowmainsoft.com/tplink-control4 My pick for best all rounder. You have several options between single outlet, single outlet with energy monitoring, dual outlet, 6-way power board with energy monitoring and more!. On top of that our suite of drivers also supports their lighting. Inwall switches, inwall keypads and LED bulbs. So in your case use the outlets for device control and replace your existing bulbs with TP-Link bulbs for fully dimming capabilities with optional color temperature and RGB control (dependant on model). -- Also speaking of lighting control we have several lighting options as well. All of these are wifi based so they do not require a hub. LIFX - http://www.chowmainsoft.com/lifx-control4 LIFX manufactures a range of affordable Wifi controlled LED lighting products. The range consists of dimmable RGB, Tunable White, White bulbs, strip based LEDs, Tile based and more. Yeelight - https://www.chowmainsoft.com/yeelight-control4 Yeelight manufactures a range of affordable Wifi controlled LED lighting products. The range consists of dimmable RGB, White and strip based LED lighting. Hope all this information helps.
