New installation need recommendations

Hello,

A couple of weeks I visited the first controller4 room in my region, started looking around and I fell in love.

Finally decided to make a quote to my home, since It's almost done building. However, I was really dissapointed on the quote, $72,000 to make my home smart. So before losing hope and just adding some alexa , philips hue and sonos. Decided to look online for used, open box or even new , and maybe just build it slowly, start by section so I dont spend a lot right away. And just overpay for the installation.

So the only thing that had an actual reference number was the controller

SR260RSK $1,950 each, and found it online at around $300. So, I have some of my hope back to make it a reality.

What I'm asking is , can I get suggestions of the hardware I may need, so I can estimate a price myself, if it's usually paid consultation, I wouldnt mind, just point me to the right direction and will gladly do it. I just don't want to drop it without trying.

Things I want:

1. Panelized Lighting (In the quote it says "72 loads & 30 keypads") couldn't find what she meant so, any help to what is needed so I can look the price online it will be great.
2.  Audio in 4 rooms. In the quote there is (10 regular ones, 2 outdoors) (in ceiling)
Audio for the main room and living room (home theater)
3. Security, I will probably go mostly with nest since seems like a cheap and easy solution. Open to suggestions.

I think that will be everything for now to try to make something not too advanced and that may fit my budget.

THANKS A LOT for any help, it's really appreciated!

Best Regards

On the Alarm we have a Texecom Elite which works great with Control4

We started with just one Room - Living Room (TV - Projector in ceiling speakers, Amp, lights etc) and then started to grow the system.

This keeps the cost under control and also you see ways to keep the cost down -

  • We have Phillip Hue Lights in most of the House and Sensors to turn them on and off - Cost £15 a bulb and £30 a sensor
  • Audio we use Sonos - Play 3`s and Subs
  • Control4 is used to bring everything together (Like a posh App) - EA3 OR EA5 Controller

Light Switches can be retro fitted and cost about £140 each

Looks like your dealer price as got a carried away, however you could also have got carried away !!

Please don’t take this the wrong way but if your not sure on what this means please don’t try to do this on your own(even with remote programmers). It will be so easy to screw it up and lose faith in C4 for no fault of its own.

Start with your main priority and then slowly grow the system. But and most importantly get the infrastructure in now!!!

ie run all cables( cat6 / speakers etc) before you finish building.

you mentioned Nest Security - I would not do any security that relies on the cloud - just my $.02.  Hardwire if possible but at least have a local panel that can communicate to a monitoring station via 4g radio.  Some will subscribe to a cloud service - what if  the cloud is down or your internet is down?  Others will just send themselves a text message - what if you are in a meeting and you do not see the message?

That sounds great! Can all that be controlled on the touch screen tablet?
And thanks for the alternatives that still works with C4. I really loved the panelized lights , however those are 25K in the quote.
What I didn't understood was the "loads" parts in the quotation , so couldn't find the parts needed online to see if it was possible or if I had to look for an alternative.

THANKS A LOT for the help.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'm not doing anything with remote programmers, I'm just going to buy the products online, and let them do all the installation. Since clearly they are way overpriced for being the first and only C4 dealer. The part that I didn't understood was the "72 loads" in the panelized lightning section. So couldn't find what are the items needed to see if I could find them online , or I would look for alternatives and give up.

Oh ok but just so you know, you cannot buy C4 products any other way than though a C4 dealer unless your gonna try buying through the 2nd hand market which I would not recommend.
