valleyrj
My dealer is struggling to connect by Zigbee certified Schlage Smart Connect locks (BE468GBAK). The only Schlage driver he can pull is the one for Z-Wave and the CSR from C4 basically said they don't support locks not purchased through C4 lol. Any ideas? My dealer thinks it is a Z-Wave lock and needs that chip, but the description of the product and the press release of it all stated it was Zigbee. Thanks!! chopedogg88
It won't work, c4's zigbee is different than the stuff they sell at Lowe's. You would have to get the lock from c4 or get the zwave dongle from c4. Recommend getting the lock from c4. valleyrj
FML that was dumb of me to just buy a Zigbee lock thinking it would work If this is a Zigbee lock, would a zwave dongle actually work? If I already have the locks and they are still in the return window but have already gone through the trouble of installing, would you still recommend getting the C4 ones? The C4 ones just don't have the look and feel I was shooting for (modern). Thanks!
chopedogg88
sorry, no the zwave dongle would only work with the zwave version of that lock. I agree with you on the modern thing...my preference when it comes to the C4 ones are the Yale Assure Keyfree locks, although they are a bit more expensive at $415. Nice looking lock though. ILoveC4
I’d love a compatible device list for the Z-Wave stuff.
DLI
Sorry for re-opening this conversation but I've looked everywhere for anyone who's tried to use the Schlage Connect Zigbee lock. I've tested multiple locks with the C4 certified zigbee driver (downloaded) and cannot get any of them to Identify. The driver has the exact model (BE468GB) and version support details. It says it requires lock firmware v0.21.06 but all of my locks come with only v0.19.01. They communicate with the zigbee mesh but will 'not' ID. I would certainly guess it's because of the older firmware but NO ONE on the planet with Schlage or C4 apparently knows if there's a newer door lock with the newer version or upgrade option. This is not this hard but why is there a driver with 'supported' firmware but NO ONE knows where or how to get it. First time I've seen this with C4 but it's bound to happen. Anyone have any input? robbie3130
I'm going to hazard a guess and agree with the previous replies, the locks would have to come from C4 sales channels and include their flavor of Zigbee (Zigbee Pro?) They're likely sold as vanilla Zigbee locks for the likes of Samsung Smart Things. Curious that the part number is the same though. I'm thinking the C4 version of the Schlage locks perhaps haven't been released yet. FWIW - I have the Z-Wave version of the locks currently with the C4 Z-Wave dongle... it's not so hot (locks themselves are quite good) msgreenf

I am considering the Z-Wave Dongle/module combination (EA-3) vs simply telling him he needs a Zigbee C4 lock replacement ... how has your experience been with the C4 Z-Wave dongle with the Schlage lock? Thanks.
robbie3130
They worked OK for a while, I had 5 locks. After a bit it seemed difficult to keep them connected to the mesh. I ended up adding a few outlet dimmers etc with hopes of extending the Zwave mesh. Ended up throwing it all out and getting 5 C4 Kwikset locks. Happy ever since. Cyknight
Zwave and locks is meh to begin with (security reasons for limited range). BUT I always forget, but isn't Schlage equivalent to Yale? If so Yale sells the C4 insert card separately.

Hardly free, but a lot less than whole new loacks
