Time2Jet
I know this has been asked and answered numerous times, but I don't know that a best practice has ever been established. Assuming one was starting from scratch (door station -wise) and money was no issue, is there a solution that would allow for "instant" popups (like a PIP) of a snapshot or vid of the door at a button press? I personally have gotten it to work a bunch of different ways, and certainly on a T3 is fastest/easiest, but I am talking about on a Television? My ways take FOREVER for the video of snapshot to appear (ie tv or switch has to change inputs to OSD and that takes forever sometimes). I sold a system to a family that tells me that "this" is the only reason they wanted Control4. They had visited the home of a friend and when someone pressed the doorbell, the TV's all paused and a snapshot appeared on the screen for 1 minute. with some sort of "dismiss" type (like an announcement on a T3 or OSD). What door station, brand, type, what displays, what method?
lippavisual
All you need is an RTSP decoder with an HDMI out. Plenty available everywhere. Now how to configure that decoder will be dependent on the hardware. I personally use a Videostorm system at home and some clients. This is built in natively where the cameras are just sources in the matrix. But, I can do PiP popups and keep watching what was on the tube. PiP shows for 60 seconds then goes away. I do the video storm route too. Super easy @time2jet if you like the look the DS2 is the easiest but if there is any doorbell you can add any camera and still get the same results. Doorstation just help with intercom functions so a “door station” isn’t needed to get PiP on a tv FYI msgreenf and Time2Jet
