jbat
Hi all,Can the zigbee network be set up so that there is a gap between areas - so that the network drops out for a bit and then picks up when another controller comes into range? If so, can I wander between these two areas with an SR250, and have it come back online when it gets back in range?Cheers, jbat.
avittech
You can set up different mesh's but your remote will not roam from one to the other. There needs to be one continuous network for that to happen.

jbat
Fantastic, thats good to know. I was thinking of the zigbee areas as puddles or lakes, but I suppose measles works too!

Luis Guilherme
I think my doubt its related with ours friend question...If i buy a cardAccess motion sensor, Will it improve my zigbee network range?
RyanE
If i buy a cardAccess motion sensor, Will it improve my zigbee network range? No.The motion sensor is battery-powered, so it is an 'end node' on the ZigBee mesh. You need a 'routing node', like the CardAccess Relay module, which is (full-time) powered by a wall wart.RyanE
Luis Guilherme
Thank you Ryan, i think im going to buy a zigbee extender!!!
RyanE
If you have *serious* ZigBee problems, get the one with the external antenna.Or even better, get the HC800 with the external ZigBee antenna, *plus* the CardAccess piece.Yes, I know, $$$$...RyanE
AVHomeInstalls
If you can get a Ethernet wire to your weak or out of range area, use a controller (even a cheap HTC from EBay) as a ZIgbee Access Point (zap).
CFUG
^As long as the area isn't infiltrated with 2Ghz + already, yeah that may be helpful.
thegreatheed
If you can get a Ethernet wire to your weak or out of range area, use a controller (even a cheap HTC from EBay) as a ZIgbee Access Point (zap). Not on an island.A ZAP only won't create a new 'puddle' of Zigbee, in an out of range area.ZAPs HAVE to be part of the main mesh, yes, to an extent they can repeat signal. A zigbee pro ZAP works more like a wireless repeater than a wireless access point.
