AdamT Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 So I am guessing this is going to get a big HELL NO but..... Has anyone figured out a way to make the remote display say anything out of the norm? I have a sleep timer I made for the bedroom but would like the remote to say "sleep" when the mode is on. Anyway to do?

jillmark99 Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 ^ AWESOME. Room name and controller name I assume???
ILoveC4 Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 I'm betting he did it exactly like jillmark99 suggested. Sent from my Droid MAXX via Tapatalk.

Godzilla Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 def possible......i know he was tinkering around with some stuff on the remote
AdamT Posted April 23, 2014 Author Posted April 23, 2014 Thats neat but....How would I write that. When I press the red button on my remote it sets a 15 min timer to turn off tv. So basically it would have to change the room name or device name when in sleep mode....
jillmark99 Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 Figuring out how to change the display was the easy part. I'm not sure if you can view a timer countdown on the display or have your system change the room name just because the timer is running, and then having it change back when it expires. I doubt this can be done but can't say for sure.
thecodeman Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 When in sleep mode, change the current selected device in the room to whatever the fake "Device" is that you put in to have it show up sleep mode on the remote. For example, a basic DVD driver with fake bindings connected, renamed to "sleep mode". When sleep timer expires, turn the room off. No?
mstafford388 Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 You would lose control of your current source if you did that. I guess you could program several dummy sources to get around that but that would get tedious. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
RyanE Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 Outside of room and source name changes as mentioned above (which are seriously not worth it), no. The CPU / firmware in the remote is seriously constrained, and the functionality is pretty much fixed. Sorry. RyanE
RyanE Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 Oh, and once asleep, the remote only wakes approximately once / minute to listen for 'alert' notices, for the 'find the remote' functionality. You can't programmatically change the room on the remote, and during 'sleep', it won't pick up source changes until it wakes up. RyanE

AdamT Posted April 27, 2014 Author Posted April 27, 2014 I was actually over thinking this. Instead I just changed the LED's on my light switch. Sometimes you past the simple things.....
