Posted May 11, 20169 yr From the makers of the Amazon Echo driver for Control4... We have just released our driver for the August Smart Lock (http://www.august.com/products/august-smart-lock). It is similar to other lock control drivers in that it enables control and display of August Lock status from within Control4 UI's and programming by binding to a Generic Door Lock relay driver. The driver requires that one has an August Connect, which allows the Bluetooth lock to connect to the IP network and be cloud-enabled. Our driver uses the cloud interface to connect to the lock of course. The driver can be purchased from www.epic-systems.com. Enjoy!
June 4, 20169 yr Question...is there support for the August keypad here as well? Would love to create programming around different users with the August lock/keypad combo.
August 29, 20168 yr Author No, unfortunately the August keypad currently doesn't work with August connect...it is Bluetooth only. So we can't integrate with it at this time, since our integration is cloud-based.
October 25, 20168 yr Any integration with the August Doorbell, since it can replace the connect and act as a bridge? Thinking of an August lock + doorbell solution...
October 25, 20168 yr Ditto on this - liked the look of the Kevo, but brand new bridge support probably seemed iffy. Would welcome either...
December 24, 20168 yr Author It's a free market. You should make one and sell it for less. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
January 4, 20178 yr The lock is $250. Just doesn't make sense to spend $100 for status updates and locking /unlocking via c4 when folks can go with another lock that has native drivers.
January 4, 20178 yr Author what do you suggest that the price point should be then? please name another lock that has native control4 drivers and allows you to smart-enable a deadbolt while leaving the original hardware on the outside of the door?
January 4, 20178 yr Could you include a link to the hardware you have built this driver for? Thank you and Happy Automating!
January 4, 20178 yr I think certainly $60-$75 is fair for a driver like this but customers have cringed when I quote them $100 to start to integrate the lock. They quickly look away. I understand it costs time/resources to build the drivers but as someone in the field I figured I'd let you know what the experience is. At that point they are willing to change the lock completely and go with a kwikset at that point.

January 4, 20178 yr Thank you for the link. After reviewing site, is this true. 1. Need lock and "gateway" device to make this work with C4? 2. If the Internet goes down, will control4 still be able to communicate as long as LAN is still operational? 3. Does the integration include the ability to program events based on what user unlocked the door? 4. In your experience with this driver, how long does it take for the lock to receive an unlock command from C4? Thank you very much for your work in this and Happy Automating!
January 4, 20178 yr Author okay, price has been dropped to $70. curious to see if this has any impact on sales, I'm guessing it won't but I'd like to be happily surprised!

January 5, 20178 yr On the topic of the API, do you think there is anyway to create a virtual cloud? Local I mean. On a local server? Really like the locks. Just a shot in the dark Happy Automating!

January 10, 20178 yr The $70 price is awesome. Thanks Choppedogg88! I bought a few licenses already...and will probably sell more.
January 10, 20178 yr Author no problem. unfortunately the price drop hasn't caused any increase in driver purchases
March 22, 20178 yr They are on sale on Amazon right now... https://slickdeals.net/f/9894224-august-2nd-gen-smart-lock-homekit-compatible-183-directly-from-amazon

So we dropped the price and told the dealer that if this increases driver sales we will keep it. Guess what NO change! We put in a LOT of work in developing these drives, not to mention the constant updates for new features, functions, and os updates. Than there is the tech support that we offer. Great work on the driver!
July 12, 20177 yr Will the driver work with the August smart Keypad? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
