Having a new Alarm Fitted on Monday

Dealer connecting Tuesday - My questions are what programming can we do ?

We have C4 Sensors around the house can these become part of the alarm ?

Can we use the upstairs sensors or wake up to disarm the alarm ?

Any tips would be helpful

Yes the upstairs sensors can disarm the alarm. Not sure about sensors "Becoming part of the alarm" though... You might be able to do it if you trigger an output from C4 into the alarm panel. I generally try to keep the alarm system to itself and C4 just interacts with it on an arm/disarm basis.

I find the most popular part of alarm integration with C4 is automatic home / away triggers.

eg, all A/V + Lighting off on alarm set with mocupancy enabled when leaving. And lights coming on if night time with a bit of AV coming on when disarmed and back home.

It works pretty well for us. There were quite a few bugs early on which I posted about on here. Got most of them solved except for one:

Arm the house, cancel the arm while it’s counting down. The countdown will continue although the house is disarmed. Now the only way to know it’s disarmed is by checking the telecom panel / listening for the beeping noise the texecom panel makes so if your panel is away from where you are you might have a mini heart attack the first time you cancel an arm like I did...

you can disarm and arm and part arm from C4 programming so yes you can use the upstairs sensors to disarm (why though?)

all the alarm sensors can be used in C4 programming if added to the project as well.

You could technically do something with the standalone C4 sensors and the alarm so that when motion detected and if alarm is armed do stuff but you wouldnt be able to link it back to your actual alarm without the installer doing so.

Useful programming we have:

Double tap button near the door to full arm house.

When full armed, set mocupancy to playback.

When disarmed, set mocupancy to record.

When full armed set Nests to eco.

When disarmed set Nests to normal.

Some stuff you can do with the sensors if they get added to the project would be if it’s between sunset and sunrise and the landing sensor is triggered then turn on the landing lights to dim to allow peoole to see where they are walking.

When the alarm is triggered send out push notifications, take snapshots of cameras and send them and also play a scary announcement around the house saying “u are trespassing and you are being watched”.

When house is armed turn on the nest cams around the house via the smart plugs and when disarmed turn them off (privacy ya know)

Have fun!

Cheers Guys - Alarm Fitted and comes with its own Connect App (Useful for my Parents)

Just had the driver added and a Big thank you for the sensors - We have sensors added for each PIR which we

can programme off.

Just done the Mocupancy setting straight away - What a great feature.

Will have some fun over the weekend programming - Could be few false alarms coming !!!

Ok we are a few issues - After speaking with our dealer the current driver is for a ip Connect (Com IP) - Spoken to the Alarm Company we have Connect which is a newer version.

In the driver fields we have no Panel Model or Panel Software filled out - The alarm is able to set and Disarm using T3 and Touchscreen.

Once we try to program the sensors everything stopped.

Have you seen/heard of this before ?

Alarm is on - Smartcom - 1.03.01 and Firmware 4.01.63 - Do any of these need updating ?

C4 is 2.10.4 Running a HC800

What driver as you using?

Whats SmartCom?

What driver version?

Ours is a texecom premier elite with com-ip.

i know there’s a thing where you can only be connected to com-ip with one device. So to connect with Wintex for example I’d have to remove the c4 connection.

What did you do with the sensors and when you say stopped what do you mean?

We have the Texecom Network Driver from  May 2017 installed.

Smartcom is from the Texecom App

We have Texecom Connect which is newer than COM-IP - Which adds up to what the Alarm Guys and Our Dealer said.

The system is now rock solid - However the Sensors our dealer connected have being removed.

When we had the senors connected the alarm stopped/ lost connection to C4 and was saying online but not getting any data from the Alarm.

Its all very interesting - Can see they is a firmware update to 4.03 for the alarm  I wonder if this to sort everything out.

All sorted -

Sensors put back in system and now working - with no issues - Can also programme from them (Not sure what he did but all OK)

Can also contact via Wintex (Wow that is confusing) while still connect to C4 - App we have been changed so each phone have induvial users.

Solid on WIFI for the last 15 Hours.

Best bit (So FAR) is when my wake up goes off  - it turns the Texecom Alarm off - so no more noise when going to make a coffee.

Can not see how I can get a C4 Sensor to work as a PIR - But will have a good look round over the coming days

Thank you for the Help and Input

You can't use the Texecom connect module with the Connect app and Control4 at the same time. You will need a separate ComIP or RS232 connection for control4 for it to work reliably.

Each Comip or Connect module only allows one connection at a time.

We have no connection issues at all - Both me and wife have been playing all day - Sad but True.

However you do know a lot more than me - We delete the apps of the phones and stick with C4

Hi I am C4 installer in South Africa. A client has installed Texecom Elite unit. Tried connecting it up with C4 via IP. Can’t seem to win. Any documentation on how to go about this?

Just a heads up.  Our Texecom Elite 168 panel had to be downgraded to a Texecom Elite 88 panel before the C4 integration stabilised.  Not sure if anyone else has successfully got a 168 working?

I have the Premier Elite and Com IP system but on the firmware before they released their own app.

Our alarm company installed the alarm and our C4 dealer installed the driver and was supposed to get it all up and running and integrated. It connects to C4 but C4 asks for a 4 digit alarm code but my alarm code is a 6 digit code. This was about a year ago and i'm still not sorted!

My dealer stopped all C4 support so i'm now dealerless and my alarm company wont upgrade my Premier Elite firmware because that would involve them coming out on site.

Anyone live close to Sunderland and fancy becoming my new dealer?? I could really use the support.

Cheers

After much back and forth between me, my dealer and Texecom, I finally do have a working Premier Elite 168. You need v18 of the driver which explicitly allows the driver to access zones above 99. So far working well with respect to being able to access state of PIR or contacts - that said the wired units are much faster and more reliable to trigger Control4 than the wireless ones.

One thing I haven’t quite got to work yet is the ability to program the system to arm. Presume some fiddling required - have set the default user code but didn’t work. I can set manually from the C4 app though. Just would like to arm from a button on way out the door as I need to close the curtains before the alarm is set - the other way around upset the neighbors and the response company with too many false alarms :(

Has anyone had any great success in differentiating whether the system is Fully Armed or Part Armed? There is a variable for this, but its seemingly unreliable, or at least very delayed. Once the ALARM_STATE changes, if I query the state, it can come back as unarmed, if I wait some time and try again it can declare as Part Armed. I’d like to use this to help trigger a Home/Away setting.
