anon2828
I have a small pedestrian gate that allows access to our front entry of home. My original plans called for automating it. After tons of searching, I was able to locate a small gate opener that is frankly awesome. It is from a company called Nice which is located in Italy. There are a few outfits here in the USA that import their stuff, but it is far from widely used. This is the opener: https://www.niceforyou.com/en/videos-and-faq/swing-gates/walky There is a WiFi module that works with the opener and makes it a "Smart Opener": https://www.niceforyou.com/us/mynicewelcome-it4wifi The WiFi interface and associated Apps are pretty well developed, but you have to choose to either use the Apple HomeKit version of the app that allows Siri control, or the non-HomeKit version of the app that allows for IFTTT functionality. Unfortunately, you have to pick to use one or the other when you provision the WiFi component of the gate opener. I've tested and both apps work very well. The ability to tell your Apple Watch as you walk up to the house, "Open the Gate" and have it magically happen is pretty cool. That said, there are some drawbacks to this, mostly the lack of any connectivity to Control4. Because this gate is used constantly, I need a way to open and close using a Double-Tap on one of the Control4 switches near the front door, or perhaps and Alexa command that would be enabled through Control4 (to be clear, there is no native Alexa control of this gate opener). Q: Is there any way to do what I am talking about above (essentially using IFTTT) to enable control through Control4 including Control4 control through my keypads and dimmers as well as Alexa commands through Control4? Q2: Is there any way to do what I am talking about interfacing Control4 through HomeKit? (I hate the idea of losing the ability to use Siri with the gate since I almost always have my Apple Watch on).
ERDrPC
would love to see a video in action of the gate. Thinking of something similar
chopedogg88
I don't see any reason why you couldn't program this using the IFTTT driver. Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk
anon2828
ERDrPC - I'd be happy to post pictures and video. Doing a "test fit" of the gate and opener right now. Will be a couple of weeks until it is full installed. Also have to bring power and cat6 through a block wall since we didn't plan well enough ahead for this little project...(we thought we were going to just do a low voltage electric strike plate to lock and unlock)... For your info, we were going to do a standard swing gate opener (from Liftmaster). After much research found that it would have not been a great application - the typical arm-type swing gate operators take 14+ seconds to open fully, are large in size and ugly when mounted on a pedestrian gate, and are double the price of the Nice Walky WL1024. The Nice Walky opens in 7 seconds or less to fully open. The unit itself is about the size of a 2 liter soda bottle and very quiet. Nice (though I had never heard of them before) is out of Italy and is the European equivalent of Lutron in my opinion. They do gate openers (residential and commercial), garage door openers, shading systems of all types, security systems, and automation controls to control all of their devices. Amr
See if it has a NO/NC Connection which am sure it will have it as most Italian gate openers have it, if you can run a wire to C4 controller and use a relay connection, there is a driver for dual relay which is better than 2 keys for On and Off on your GUI. You can also go wireless with Z2IO as well. Don’t get the WiFi module, once you have integrated to C4 u can do a voice scene as well! I'm having a bit of trouble with the Nice website. I can't seem to find any of their products that they sell?
anon2828
rf9000 - their website is horrible. If you are in the USA I suggest you visit: https://www.niceforyou.com/us - search under Support and look at the user manuals and brochures (that's what I had to do) You can also take a look at these US based resellers that sell Nice (note: they officially go by Nice Apollo in the US) https://www.fastaccesssecurity.com https://apollogateopeners.com
anon2828
Amr: Can you provide a little more information on the Z2IO module? I am not familiar. Too late, I already purchased the IT4WiFi module for the gate opener. Wasn't too bad at $78, so at least I can try out some of the HomeKit and/or IFTTT before I go to a pure C4 integration... Amr
C4 Zigbee to IO allows you to hock up Wireless remote realy and other IO if u don’t have a wire, works pretty much the same if you have a decent Zigbee Mesh.
anon2828
Excellent. I've got a very good Zigbee mesh given all of the switches/dimmers I have and the EA1 acting as a repeater. Do you know the approx. cost of this device? Is it 3rd party or only available through Control4? Thanks!
Amr
Your dealer should get it to you, u can also source once from eBay (not advisable) I believe it’s retail for $120. Lots of dealers in the forum can sell it to u and remotely help u to add to your system.
msgreenf
MSRP on a Z2IO is $
Amr
I also use the old CardAccess ZCA WCS10A-2-ZP, it’s a Zigbee Wireless realy, it’s the old version of Z2IO but will set you down $50 max when buy used via eBay.
