Bohdan Posted April 7, 2023 Posted April 7, 2023 Hello. I want to buy a controller - Controller C4-HC300-E-B, but I need it to be disconnected from old account, as picture. Quote
Andrew luecke Posted April 7, 2023 Posted April 7, 2023 Those controllers are over 10 years old. Any particular reason you're not upgrading? Installers these days throw them straight in the bin (unless you're chasing it for embernet upgrading?) Quote
Bohdan Posted April 7, 2023 Author Posted April 7, 2023 Upgrading to a new one costs about $1,700. It makes no sense to overpay if you can buy the old one. Quote
msgreenf Posted April 7, 2023 Posted April 7, 2023 You know that it already can't run the latest os and his limitations right? Quote
Andrew luecke Posted April 7, 2023 Posted April 7, 2023 The HC300 was released in 2007 (so actually 16 years ago). The max it supports is OS 2.9. Even the HC-800 released in 2011 (12 years old) are getting thrown in the bin now, and they support up to the relatively new OS 3.3.0 (and were always MUCH more powerful than the HC300). OS 3.0 (which was a major boost) was released 4 years ago now. OS 2.10.0 was released 6 years ago (so, it almost makes me wonder how long Control4 supports OS 2.9 for) That being said, there are HUGE upgrades from OS 2.9 to OS 3.3.X (including: Intercom anywhere support Colorwheel support Drivers which can be deployed quickly When >> Then via 4Sight (I could be wrong, but i don't think thats supported by OS 2.9?) Huge improvements to cameras.. The new enhancements aren't even being fully utilised yet New Interface The ability for drivers to have their own custom interface ( https://chowmain.software/drivers/control4-scheduler as an example) Custom Agents Daylight Agent (brand new) Lighting which uses Targets instead of light levels (which makes the lighting drivers feel more responsive). Lots of new API commands too And more Even small things like customisation of buttons on AV drivers interfaces is now possible by driver developers. And an EA1v2 (released in 2018 which can run OS3.3.2 and the Halo's) aren't that expensive either. I guess if you're happy with OS 2.9 however, its up to you (if you want a HC300, nobody will stop you), but it wouldn't surprise me if they actually cost more than some newer controllers at this time. But if you have to go old controller, I would recommend HC800 minimum, but even that, we're already releasing drivers which are designed for OS 3.3.2 or later minimum (ie, EA series, CA series or CORE), so, I would strongly recommend against even the HC800 (and recommend EA series minimum). alanchow Posted April 7, 2023 Posted April 7, 2023 If you want to purchase an old controller then you can just factory restore the device. After that you can re-register it. Note that the product you want to buy is end of life. Meaning no support is given. You may also find it hard to get a programmer to program the system due to its age. Regardless that should answer your question. Quote

I already bought one old controller, reset the factory settings according to the instructions (as photo), but this only reset the controller settings, but the controller was not exit from the old account, I can’t connect it to my account. Maybe I did something wrong! Quote
RAV Posted April 7, 2023 Posted April 7, 2023 Did yours die? Often that’s the power supply and can be swapped in 10 minutes. Quote

There are some good ones. Your issue sounds like a faulty power supply to me. You can probably swap your new unit’s power supply into the old unit yourself… All that said, I second all the comments about getting newer hardware if you possibly can. Andrew luecke 1 Quote

MikeyMystery Posted February 4, 2024 Posted February 4, 2024 Hello Bohdan. I have this exact model if you're interested. It's in great shape and I'm willing to let mine go for a decent price + shipping. I sent you a message. Not sure if you're still looking for one but I thought it was worth a shot. Have a good one.
