Can a program be written in Control4 to create a cycle of colour for RGBW Tape using a DMX Driver?

Derek Wellesley

Question

By way of background please see the attached pdf and screen shots our how we currently change the colours.

DMX over Ethernet Set Up.pdf

Photo showing what we select on our iPhones to turn the lights on, off and dim them:

Photo showing what we select on our iPhones select a different colour from some pre-set colours:

Photo showing what we select on our iPhones to create a customised colour:

We really need to know if it possible to create a cycle of colours and then need to ensure the control of the RGBW lights is stable as sometime access via the App/Touchscreen doesn't work.

Please see the photos below for a sample of the lights being controlled.

If you're looking for a user interface that allows you to select a few different colours manually and then cycle through those colours until turned off: you're not going to find it.

What you CAN do is preprogrammed cycles for the end user to select. That can be done in Control4 with what you have, but the biggest downside is that it will take a fair bit of programming per cycle, AND you're putting the load on the C4 controller AND it's not quite as smooth as it could be.

The Enntec piece itself is a super solid piece: the way it integrates into C4 is not as good as others however (when it comes to things like cycling colours for example)

The enttec would be the piece I'd replace, preferably with a controller compatible with the domaudio driver from drivercentral (might take some digging in the UK). The rest is fine, but with that you're replacing HOW you talk to those other existing DMX decoders in a way that is FAR easier to do AND works better.

Thanks for your help.  Off to find what's available in the UK.
