  1. I have always used FloLogic. When I saw that someone here said that they had updated their stuff, I sent in a note.

I have Version 3.4 from about 8 years ago. They now have a module that plugs in and 10 minutes later you are up and running on their latest software, on the app, Control 4 still is in charge and works but you can now change settings and turn it back on if it is turned off and do so remotely.

This is absolutely wonderful. I love FloLogic and their newest stuff is incredible.

    Highly recommended!

What driver you using for this?

Sorry - I don't think I am using a driver - I think that I just used alexas native features and told it to look for new capabilities and it found my entire house..You then need to figure out the command to control things but as long as you were logical in assigning names in your house it works a treat.

    We:

     turn on an off televisions

turn on and off room groups

     turn on and off lights

turn on and off music in entire house or selected rooms

My wife (from bed) "Alexa thru off master bed lights" and they all go off and the alarm is set for external protection and all doors are confirmed locked.

I recently added one of the TP-Link energy monitoring plugs (HS110) to my washing machine. When the cycle finishes, I programmed an announcement telling us the load needs changed and, because we are really good at ignoring things, I have a C4 push notification sent to our phones 15 minutes later to remind us (probably need to send notifications about 3 more times though).

I use the Chowmain TP-Link and Advanced Announcements drivers for this.

We had the same issue - we resolved it with Alexa - "Alexa set a washer timer for 23 minutes." "Alexa set a dryer timer for 35 minutes."  The ability to name your timers is a wonderful thing as you no longer need a reminder why you set the timer.

based on the comments TP-Link may be good.  I use 2 Wemo's and one falls offline frequently though its in my living room where I've streamed/screened content from my phone to my TV with zero latency issues.  My Access Point delivers over 200 Mpbs in that room yet the Wemo has had a few hiccups.

The reason the WEMO falls off periodically is that you need to use the WEMO app and log in and do the firmware update - doing that immediately resolves all issues with WEMO.

I have 12 WEMO plugs working in my house and they are CHEAP (get them from Costco on sale) and work a LOT better than the Control4 options.  The control 4 option would fail by my fireplace regularly - after more than ten warranty failures I simply quit and went with WEMO. Way SMALLER, and works a treat better. (My opinion)

  5. Tagging on to this - I have updated to Version 3.0.

My Pandora USED to allow me to Thumbs Down by going to the currently playing on my phone.

I cannot find the thumbs down option to never play that song again.

It was not initially a big deal - but it has started playing some rap stuff that I don't like with explicit words and I would like to get that stopped.

Is the thumbs down capability removed? Or am I just missing it?  The Pandora driver was updated in 3.0. Did this change?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Yes but we have multiple meshes. Installed by a pinnacle C4 dealer and C4 has reviewed the install.

We had 190 on a single mesh. Worked a treat for a number of years. All of a sudden we started having latency using the SR-250's n the house. None of us could figure out what the issue was - tech support walked right to it - we were having a huge number of "failures" or retrys to get back to the server. We created another mesh and move about 70 nodes so far - it is working much better. Still need to move some more nodes.  I thought that this might have been your issue - but it sounds not promising.

Does anyone know if OS3 improves the zigbee mesh? We've had issues with our lighting and response times (periodically). Realized that it was partially due to the need for a power conditioner on a sump pump, but still have issues occasionally with 1-2 6 button switches.

Do you have more than 70 "nodes" on your mesh? Each mesh supports up to 65 or so nodes (switches etc...)

Do you use your phone app or do you not carry your phone with you?  I have always found it so much easier to use the phone app over the in wall or portable touchscreen.

I use my phone app when I am not in the house or not near any other controls.

MOST of my house does everything automatically. RARELY do I need to use an app or screen - garage doors are an exception to this rule for me.

  9. So -

    I have an HC800 and an EA3

    I have 6 SR250's (TV Remotes).

To update to the latest software when it comes out - Can my EA-3 handle everything and I just drop off the HC800? of can I reconfigure?

Will I need to update the SR250's?  ALL of mine only control TVs - nothing else -

Interested in knowing what changes I need to make to remain current...

Thanks in advance for any information that someone may have that they can share.

though I am not a huge windows guy - you can buy a refurbished Dell Optiplex or the HP EliteDesk for not too much.  My WinPC is basically for BI and Composer HE.  Put it on a shelf in my rack and off I go.  Using Windows to run the software you could also record to a NAS as well.  Just trying to help think outside the box.

There is also a Blue Iris driver for Control 4 as well. I saw it recently.

  11. It is said that a foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds.

I read that to mean that forcing everything into Control 4 just for the sake of it is not rational. If control4 gives an advantage great!

I once had a client that wanted their software to keep track of how many times their staff got on the phone. (I do pharmacy software - it is not connected to the phone)

I said - we can charge you a lot of money or you can simply put a pad of paper by the phone and when your staff pick up the phone make a tick mark and at the end of the day count the tick marks.  Go with the best , fastest, most easily supported method of what you are needing. Control 4 does not offer me any advantages that I am aware of - I am willing to hear however.

  12. I use Blue Iris and Not Control 4 for all of my cameras and I have 15.

    Here is why -

    1. it is less than $50.00

    2. it works with all IP cameras that expose their IP address.

    3. you can see all cameras easily on your phone as well as your monitor

    4. easily configured

    5. you can get emails

    6. watch real time any time

    7. supports all features of the cameras

Now - When I tried to get this into Control 4 -

    1. interface issues

    2. only certain cameras supported

    3. cannot see anything immediately - the TV has to come on and warm up - if you are watching TV this can be irritating as well

I would be interested in hearing why someone feels that putting cameras into Control 4 is a good or helpful idea?

    Thanks

  13. I installed the ChowMain driver for LIFX last evening and it works great so far.  The lights are a 9 foot run in my kitchen.  Several questions/issues:

    1. the only way I can turn the lights off is by setting the brightness to ZERO. That has been mentioned and there seems to be no other work around.

    2. I have several ways that the kitchen lights are turned on:

         a. voice command - three levels of lighting by voice

         b. motion sensor/movement

         c. time of day (scheduler)

each of these have always been done using the advanced lighting so it has been no issue. Now I have to go to each place and manually enter what I want to happen.  Is there a better way? This also means that I have to set the color that I want in each of these scenes and level.  The application has much more control on my phone that control4 has over the lights. I must not see the "vision" yet for how to do this really nicely.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

You would have 13 instances of the blue Iris driver. Just like adding anything else.

    Happy to help if needed

Help me understand why I would even want this in Control 4.

Blue Iris does a great job and I can easily see it quickly on my phone.  Putting it into Control 4 will mean that I could see it on my televisions but I would have to leave them on all the time correct? Otherwise I have to wait for the turn on time etc?

What do you like about having your cameras in Control 4?

  15. I have a weather station. I live on a lake so I liked the fact that I had wind speed that was accurate as I used that to raise my solar shades so that they did not get damaged. The new Control 4 drivers is good but does not have MY weather station information. I would like to get that back.

If you read back on the post, that wasn't the main issue.  The music is then also tied to your phone if you do it from your phone.  Y  By integrating alexa into it as an audio out to the C4, all the audio is then coming from the alexa--amazon/spotify/sirius, etc...   If I walk out of range of my C4 system while playing music, the house loses the music.   My phone battery dies more.... you get a phone call....  etc.

The way he set it up, I say two things to alexa and then music is playing where i want it to.  My wife is much happier.....happy wife...you know the rest.   For the non tech savy, this is a great way to do it.

I love my Alexa and saying "alexa, turn on all speakers" and have my favorite pandora station playing immediately.

  17. One of the coolest things that we did recently was to enable Airplay on Control 4. Setup some standard speakers and volumes and then on your phone, or a visitors phone, or your wifes phone simply play ANYTHING you want - pandora, ANYTHING and swipe up on your apple phone and send it to Airplay. TA DA - you are playing from your phone or your friends phone directly through your house.  Just too cool.

  18. I have had FloLogic now for over a decade.

    1. it NEVER false alarms

    2. it always works

    3. it has saved me many times

    4. tech support has always been there even on holidays and weekends

    5. its' only downside has already been stated - you cannot turn it on remotely - but - since it does not false alarm - why would you want to?
