  1. Can I ask why does it need a router in my example? It already has a project assigned to it and it will only have zigbee devices (no touch panels in the home). My thinking was turn over to the tenant unplugged from network, then if any issues arise, he plugs into his network and the dealer remote access to fix but my hope is that will be rare. Huge thanks for the quick replies. I will make sure the controller is not set to a fixed IP to ensure it gets an assigned address if the tenant has to later connect to his router.
  2. Was reading other threads and one triggered a thought... Is it possible (for a lighting only system) to have the EA-3 Director Controller disconnected from the Internet entirely (eg no cat6 connection at all), set the time to "Legacy" and let it just operate the zigbee lighting network with no remote or local access? Eg will the lighting and keypads just work as per normal? Thanks!
  3. Thanks Rav, It is a longer term rental and unfortunately maintaining 2 ISPs will not work in this situation although I now understand what you are getting at. What about just changing the controller to a newly created account for Tenant? Would this be a solution? Also, happy to hear if anyone has any other options to ponder.
  4. Thanks RAV, I want to make sure I'm following you correctly. I'm going to cancel my existing ISP so it will just be theirs in the end. They will have their own router/modem combo from the ISP. Are you saying just keep the system in my name but not have the C4 controller connected to the home network at all? So it would just be the C4 controller and the zigbee lights? and if there is a power outages just plug the controller in the network to sync time and then unplug again? Thanks!
  5. Hi all, I have a second home that I will be renting that has a control4 system installed. I'm trying to figure out how best to transition the system as the tenant is not keen on the landlord having access to the homes system (for privacy, etc) while they are renting. I also have the desire to have a reliable low touch simple setup. I was going to remove everything from the Control4 project aside from lighting for simplicity a less probability of something not working. Any thoughts how best to setup a lighting only C4 system that is minimum downtime and maintains a tenants privacy? One thought I had was just to convert the tenant to be the C4 customer of record registered to the project / controller. Is this the best approach or am I missing a simpler solution? Another element is the tenant wants their own ISP relationship with a simple wifi/modem/router that comes with the ISP. If I have the C4 controller on DHCP, will it pick up simply when connected to the tenants new router? Or will some dealer set up be inevitable? Huge thanks!
  6. I use the Control4 android app in my Unifi Connect touchscreens. Works great.
  7. FYI, I didnt realize my frame TV (w/art mode enabled) was set for automatic updates. It apparently did an update last night and now it will not work with the C4 remote. The TV shows in the driver as active, I tried repairing, I also checked settings but havent been able to uncover whats going on yet. I did notice after the update that the TV Anynet+/CEC was selected so I deselected it. Posting for awareness and if anyone has had something similar or a fix, I welcome it! Thx
  8. I bought 2 Halos when they first came out and I like them a lot but my family always reaches for the SR260 every time they grab the remote. They just like the way it fits in their hand, go figure
  9. I have same without wifi and its a nice step up from Assure version 1. I find the locking mechanism and design much improved.
  10. Isnt battery life one of the key considerations in remote design and beta testing? I would assume this result is not a surprise to C4 and what they have planned for? Maybe there design approach is really just a daily return to cradle design at the end of the day? Also, what is the pathway for the customer for battery replacement? Is this going to be like Apple and for a cost we send back to C4 to change the battery?
  11. Was just wondering if they have a wifi implementation and what is their track record.
  12. Are the Savant remotes wifi or ZB?
  13. It may be good to establish what is a "normal" battery drain range for this new remote. I'm not hearing of anyone yet getting multiple days charge while the remote is off the base? I would assume battery life is something that would be heavily tested by C4 during design and beta phase so maybe Ryan can chime in on what we can expect (before working numerous mitigations)? For me, at present my remote without use is at about 65-70% battery life while resting 7 hours off the cradle.
  14. remote is dead the next day even if you dont touch it?
  15. Change the setting on the remote to 30 min which will help...
  16. Tried to search so apologies if somewhere in one of the Halo threads this is answered but can someone tell me what the RGBY button is for on the bottom right of the Halo?
  17. easily solved by buying a remote for each room
  18. I got it to work Ryan. I was selecting the Roku App Switcher as the video source for the room and then in a second line, launching the App for Netflix and this would not control the app. When i used instead, Select "netflix" as the video source in the room, it worked. thanks again!
  19. ps, the remote is really cool and I find the weighting in the hand fine. Nice job on the design!
  20. Thanks Ryan. I'm getting closer and had just figured out above but when the mini app launches eg netflix, the remote will not control the app. it will control the room, eg av receiver volume up and down but not the app itself. Anything more to suggest for this bit?
  21. Hi all, I'm playing around with the new Halo remote and cant seem to figure out how to program the 3 custom buttons on the top of the remote. I see the 3 buttons on the programming tab and i can program things to turn on but then the remote does not control the app like when using the "Watch" command. I'm trying to access my DirectTV, Netflix and Hulu mini apps on my Roku via the 3 buttons. Thanks!
  22. Thanks, Can i just confirm that I can buy the "non-wifi" version of the lock and insert a C4 card into that unit? or do i have to buy the wifi version and replace the wifi card with a C4 module? Thanks!
  23. Does anyone have a sense of the supply situation for the Halo when they first hit dealers? eg will demand outpace supply and they quickly sell out or the opposite? Thanks
