For now, i'm just going to use it as viewer for my Unifi Protect. I'll wall mount it when I get the flush mount kit in hand. It's POE, no direct connect to 110v. The mounting mechanism and stand look identical to the pics above, very solid and thin. Has a white edge trim and back that has a matt finish to it. Touchscreen appears to have a camera in it as well, possibly to work with their intercom and access system. It's still in EA status so lots of unknown still. Even if C4 took something like this and added their and dealer margin, they would sell a TON of these at $600 or less. Not sure what they are thinking with their touchscreen strategy.
Just got in hand one of the new 13" touchscreens... $299 delivered. It's depressing that C4 can't make a touchscreen near this price point with this quality...
It had a few quirks several years ago (I attributed to my ATT Gateway router which even in IP pass through was still returning a ping back to the Unifi thus not triggering failover) but seems to work flawless now between WAN1 and WAN2 (Failover) with a UDM-Pro.
I have had dual WAN with failover on the last 2 generations of Unifi routers... Thats what most folks on this forum would use for dual WAN, either failover or load balancing which it does either.
I had 2 ports go out on one switch after 5 years…. Camera that are outdoors and running 24/7 can sometime have the IR filter freeze after 3-4 years…. That’s about it for me. No critical networking router or switch has failed on me yet other the the couple of ports mentioned above.
I've never seen an icon yet? is this something new? ps, I just set mine for a week for recording and never looked at it again.... It works great but don't think you can see how the recording is put together.
A few pics and specs, Full 1080P, POE, dual band Wifi, 13" for $299.... Maybe C4 can just copy, not necessary for the customer to say it was invented here Also interesting the design can be made flat mount on wall, angled off wall, or pedestal... All with the same base tablet.
Thats good throughput... So now the answer is just adding WAPs to extremities of the house that the throughput is below what you are looking for (eg below 100 Mbps)
I haven't really been hit yet with abandoning products but not surprising a company with a strong innovation pipeline mentality also is constantly testing the market for what the consumer wants.
In Early Access coming soon, a cool looking 13" HD touchscreen for $299 and a 7" for $199 with several table top and wall mount options. They state now for digital signage or to run Unifi Protect but no doubt it will evolve to intercom's etc.
Amazing to see what they are doing on design and pricing in relative comparison to C4.
Best I found is to use the Wifi Sweetspots app on a modern iphone. This measures the WAP throughput capability (not internet speed) which ideally would be higher than your ISP max speed so its not a bottleneck.
what about folks who have faceplates also in the house for power outlets... Some decora and some not maybe. Do you change every one of those faceplates also to the control 4 faceplate?
