  1. i took it apart and looks there is little spring mechanism on the button that is stuck... Cant unstick it so probably trash at this stage.
  2. Hi, I have an adaptive dimmer that has one of the metal contacts stuck that "clicks" when the toggle switch is pressed. The toggle switch has the plastic cover and a plastic stem up an one down that presses the metal contact. One of the two appears stuck as it will not depress or click. Anyone know of this is fixable? thx
  3. Mine did something similar after a few years of being in direct sunlight. They replaced it under warranty…
  4. I have the Yale Locks and pretty sure you can set an access schedule for each user...
  5. Agree… I don’t like either intrusion… deer watching or network hacking.
  6. It really seems like the market needs an option like this (maybe the folks who cant setup proper firewalls etc would be willing to pay a premium for it). Ultimately, I think the masses let Amazon/etc listen to the their lives 24/7 so what's the difference to let a hacker watch them also. It's kind of like a JoshAi for Cameras value proposition?
  7. The equipment cost jump is pretty high to do this and overkill imo... I think a mix of 2.5G, 10G is a good balance at present with future headroom.
  8. I have 10Gbe connections for a few internal networking connections like NAS to PC to Switch. But if you were buying or installing a new network, I would at minimum install 2.5Gbe switches with SFP+ and maybe even some main MTP fiber runs within the home. It creates a lot of optionality for now and in the future.
  9. I've added Somfy RTS motors to my blinds and haven't added the gateway yet until some news comes out with Tahoma... It must not be a widely integrated item with C4 yet...
  10. Agree, and I don't even think that is a problem with current revisions...
  11. I have a Unifi network with Vlans and no issues whatsoever with Control4...
  12. Really NDA? Doing the right thing is often times a lot different from doing the legal thing!
  13. There are several examples of touchscreens at less than half the costs of C4 (some you mention), maybe not the HA competitors you are comparing to. Over $1000 for a touchscreen is over priced in my opinion. I have a 13" touchscreen from Ubiquiti that is $299 and is better built, better designed than my C4 screen, imho.
  14. @msgreenf Agree and I get it but non recurring, incremental fees are the point I'm making as said above... And yes, for $379, it includes all of that plus free shipping
  15. well said... the Unifi UI is much much more than just eye candy. plus it's fr double e.
  16. Not sure we are talking the same thing. My comment was not about a dealer selling hardware out of an area. It was about a unbiased c4 virtual dealer (like those on this forum), providing a virtual review of another customers C4 proposal as a second set of eyes. If I was inexperienced on what I was purchasing and about to spend $20k+ on an installation, spending a couple of hundred bucks to have someone validate the bid "as being solid" would be money well spent. Maybe it is not practical as the auditing C4 dealer may be too tempted to try and win the business in some way.
  17. My original thought was using forums like this with experienced virtual dealers that can quickly audit a system and bid for robustness.
  18. there is a lot of help on this forum and most of the time it has broader reach than just someone's personal dealer audit of a bid sheet (hence a forum). If folks want to do that then great... I was just thinking outside the box that maybe this should be like a valuable service... eg, someone about to spend $20k on an installation and gets paid consultation on it. Makes a lot of sense to me. Like I said, try to hire someone to come and audit your home before you close on a house and do it gratis?
  19. I'm not a dealer but cant understand why folks want to sit on a forum and do bid reviews and bid audits for free?
  20. This type of "check over my bid" thread seems to be getting more common. Never could quite understand why some dealers take the time to offer detailed back and forth other than being extremely generous. Maybe a new category should be created called "check my dealer proposal" and then folks could pay one of the experts in this forum 1-2 hours of their time to audit the proposal for robustness. On a large several thousand dollar project, this could be money well spent! kind of like hiring a home inspector when buying a new home, eg check my builders work and then if the person decided to hire the expert for the job, the 1-2 hours could be credited to them. Just a thought.
  21. I ordered Celerity's latest cable. They are using a fiber MPO trunk cable now with HDMI baluns. https://celeritytek.com/product-ufo.html
  22. This is what I have now (their first gen product). Had some glitches early but was solid for years but now might be having renewed issues. I like there Fiber MPO cables to HDMI current models.
