  1. Thanks. I assume this makes DLNA source appear in My Music? By implication, then, you're saying no advantage to third-party streaming/serving boxes? I was thinking maybe they might let me do a blended queue of songs (from different sources). Like queue up Song 1 from Tidal, Song 2 from local (NAS/DLNA), Song 3 from Spotify, etc. Maybe that is also native to Control4 already.
  2. Hi All. What is the advantage (if any) of having a standalone music server in a Control4 system? It looks like the EA-5 has native support for (certain) streaming services and can also handle local music ("My Music")--- although maybe just via direct connection to storage and not via network? My spec calls for a Fusion Duet box, which looks cool, but not sure what it adds. Would the user experience (in terms of navigating music and building playlists) be better than the native integrations? Apologies in advance is this is a naive question. I have searched the archives, but much of the discussion is very old and I wonder if the current versions of Control4 HW/SW now subsume this functionality and will cover me.
  3. You'll need lot of PowerWalls to run your whole house for very long-- and they will never keep your A/C going in summer for extended outages in hot areas. Plus, batteries will need to be replaced much more frequently than generator. I think an ideal solution is to have Solar+Battery+Generator, all integrated (control + power) working together. It seems that this is just now becoming an off-the-shelf solution with the new Generac inverters and transfer switches. That's what I am hoping for in my current home build. CA (PG&E at least) won't let you arbitrage TOU rates with batteries if you have solar (can't charge at night off-peak and discharge during peak daytime hours). Bummer because this kills a big chunk of the ROI from batteries.

This Nano/Core setup seems pretty slick. Do we expect a Control4 driver will be available to handle the routing of the "feedback" audio from the Core to the appropriate rooms? Seems like that would require some orchestration to do smoothly. Probably a naive question, but can Control4 matrix audio switches do "mixing" of the currently-playing source together with another source (in this case, the analog audio output from the Josh Core)?
  5. Thanks. Do you use the Chowmain driver? Probably a naive question, but does the driver license cover the whole project or is pricing "per device" (ie., per Intesis box)? From reading the driver notes, it looks like you need one Intesis box per zone-- is that right?
  6. Hello all. Our project will have about 18 HVAC zones from 5 mini-split compressors. The system designer has proposed Mitsubishi, but the contractor likes LG. Neither has much automation experience. Does anyone know whether Mitsubishi or LG (or other brand) is significantly better/easier cheaper to interface with Control4 (on an end-to-end basis-- including all required accessories, bridges, drivers, etc.)? I see that a lot of people recommend Intesis boxes with Chowmain driver. Others have mentioned IFTTT options. I was dreaming about a manufacture-sponsored native IP driver-- but I'm not seeing any vendors referencing that. Anyway, shot in the dark, but thought I'd ask. Thanks!
  7. Cyknight: I get it. Only looking for cool/wow factor, TBH. I was just curious if there were existing drivers the would help implement this. Not something I would likely do from scratch.
  8. Hello all. Our new home will have a lot of glass, with roller shades on every window. I'm intrigued by the Lutron Hyperion system (for office buildings) that takes the sun's position into account (I think via celestial calculations and not light sensors) and adjusts shade position to avoid harsh direct sunshine as the day progresses. Seems pretty cool. Are there Control4 solutions that can replicate this? Info on the Lutron system: https://www.lutron.com/TechnicalDocumentLibrary/367-1626.pdf
  9. I also just spec'ed a Town & Country TC54 fireplace and am now worried about the integration if the included module does not work as advertised. Anyone get this going?
