I actually like this app update.

We've always done generic wallpapers that remind us of what a room is (not actual pictures of the space - baked goods for kitchen areas, water pictures for the pool, etc). Turns out they look good as little icons.

I like this much better than the odd fly out icon update that makes me feel like I'm back on an old version of Elan.

That is an interesting idea. I have used some pictures for some of my rooms (my wife is a pro photographer) but I don't like how they look on the phone app. They look great horizontal, but then selecting a slice of the photos for the app looks off. I need to research wallpapers to see if I can find enough options to cover my rooms.

I’m still struggling to find where the buttons on the SR260 are programmed.   My dealer setup several of them.   Thinking I should be able to see them and make changes in Composer HE.   Any pointers?   Thanks in advance

You select the Room, not the remote itself, in the Device Events section. Then you select "Commands" and use the dropdown menu to select the different buttons that are on the remote. It isn't intuitive, but think of the command as being for the room from any device, like the C4 app, not just the specific remote. However, some of the options on the list, like the three custom buttons, are unique to the SR260.

  3. I purchased this Episode Response brand new in June 2023, and while I don't believe the manufacture warranty will work, I do have an extended warranty through June 2026 that I have confirmed it is 100% transferable upon sale. The matrix/amp is in excellent condition and works perfectly. Due to the size of my system, I have decided to move to a Triad 16x16 matrix and 8x amp so that I can expand to a second 8x amp in the future.

I will cover PayPal fees and half of shipping for a full price offer.

  4. Zappiti is out of business, but R-volution is taking over their product line and has released an app for the Zappiti players to replace the Zappiti app. However, I do not know if Chowmain's Zappiti driver, which is excellent, will work with the new R_volution app.

    https://www.rvolution.com

Another option might be Zidoo. When Zappiti closed shop, I switched to a Zidoo player. It has a free C4 driver and has many of the same options as the Zappiti did for control, including an option to view the media on a server. I am not certain a specific movie can be programmed to be triggered with a touch of button, but I can play around in HE and see.

  5. I asked this question previously about the Shelly driver, and @Andrew luecke was very helpful. Now I am trying to figure out how to purge "unprovisioned devices" in the Kasa driver. I cannot find the same option to purge under "Actions" that the Shelly driver has. I replaced three Kasa individuals plugs with a smart power strip, but each time I run "Auto Setup," the three unused devices (which I removed from the Kasa app) are added back into my project.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

  6. I hope this question makes sense, but is there a way to enable and disable multiple scheduled events at the same time? Like with a custom button?

For example, if I have several schedules setup that I don't want running when out of town (heated floors, fireplace, etc.), is there a way to disable (and later enable) them together without having to go into HE and disable/enable each one separately?

    Thanks!

If you can, you'll want to set your router to do a static DNS/Forward DNS (on the internal network side) instead of DNS proxy. 'setting router DNS to 8.8.8.8' usually means that the router uses the DNS for it's own handling, and means the router handles DNS (you'll know if your computer/phone DNS server is the same as the router address)

Thank you. I am really not familiar with intricate settings on my router, but under Internet Setup, IPv4, I chose "Use these DNS servers" and entered 8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4, and 1.1.1.1, for primary, secondary, and tertiary, respectively. I am not sure if that means I have set them as "static DNS," as you suggested, though I have the "Get Automatically from ISP" turned off, which I assume is the dynamic/non-static mode.

  8. I am pretty sure this could be done with Domasapien's Keypad Enhancer driver. I know the driver can disable the keypad and I am quite sure it can be done with programming (like on a schedule).

    https://drivercentral.io/platforms/control4-drivers/utility/keypad-enhancer/

Edit -  I just checked and it is very easy to do with the driver.  "Disable keypad" and "Enable keypad" are two action options that can be triggered by a schedule or any other event for any keypad that has the Keypad Enhancer driver. If the keypads are grouped together, you can do the programming for the entire group.

  9. To be clear, the new NAS, like the Zappiti one, won’t be sold in the US, only elsewhere. There were never legal problems with the media players in this country, only the NAS ripper. The “legal” problem Zappiti had that led to their demise was a bankruptcy related to one partner leaving the business. Those problems had nothing to do with copyright issue.

But I am not sure a C4 forum is the place to discuss Zappiti and R_volution and their chances of success. AVSForums and Facebook have plenty of discussions on the matter.

  10. I am someone without unlimited resources, who has a fully integrated Control4 system, and has seriously considered adding Josh.ai. Right now, I have Alexa and use it for a couple of things, but I don't use it enough to actually remember the best verbal commands to get done what I need. Even with my regular few commands, I sometimes get the wording wrong. I am drawn to Josh.ai out of the hope that I don't have to try and remember the commands but can speak naturally to it. If that is the case, as most seem to say, then I think I would use voice command a lot more. Personally, I really wish Control4 had native voice control, even if not quit at the level of Josh.ai, and I did not have to add a different control system to get that level of voice commands, but at least for the foreseeable future, Josh.ai is the only real option, as Alexa and Google have significant limitations.

But, I fear spending a lot of money only to end up rarely using it. I have installed C4 keypads throughout the house to control music, have a lot of lighting on timers, and use remotes for all watch activities.

Using the TCP driver and WOL did the trick for me.  It was only the discrete power on/ off that was my initial issue. Not sure if I need the movie list on my remote.  I prefer the video wall to be honest.

The video wall is much more useful, and I honestly hardly ever reviewed the movie library for Zappiti on the app or remote, but it is just a cool extra feature.

The Chowmain TCP driver is a must for the Zidoo!

  12. As an update, and for anyone else in the future that wants to use a Zidoo with Control4, the directions with the driver and from @Kaas Mayer work perfectly to make the video library visible on a C4 remote or app. While I loved the same ability that the Chowmain driver had for Zappiti, there was a longstanding issue (that I know Alan tried to resolve with Zappiti many times) about only certain posters being displayed in the library view. I spent many hours trying to find collection posters that would all work. But the Zidoo library displayed 100% of my posters the first time.

As opposed to the Chowmain Zappiti driver, the C4 driver provided by Zidoo (now in version 23) is very limited. In fact, it doesn't even work to send on and off commands. It is basically only for navigation and control buttons. After some experimenting I found a way to turn off the Zidoo using a few steps (e.g., assign the "red" button to "off" in the Zidoo OS and then triggering the "red" button using the Room Control driver), and had my dealer install the Chowmain Generic TCP driver for WOL. This driver is excellent and a wonderful addition to the Zidoo driver. Not only does it do WOL, but using HTTP GET commands provided to me on the Zidoo forum (and attached here), I can now do any command I need, such as opening audio or subtitle settings. This driver also allows for a command to turn off the player, which is simpler than my original workaround. So, for anyone who wants to use Zidoo with Control4, adding the Generic TCP driver will make up for the shortcomings of the Zidoo driver.

The only downside is that I have to use a Custom Button for these additional commands, as they are not imbedded within the Zidoo controls.

We can't delete devices in the project. Purge Known devices deletes all devices in the DB for the Agent. From there, you simply wait for them to be redetected, or pulled from cloud again.

When the devices are pulled from the cloud again or redacted, do they go back in the rooms they were assigned originally?

Maybe I am completely misunderstanding, and if so, I apologize.

The purge known Devices action should reset the known device list. At this time, its a design decision not to do it automatically as Local Lan discovery in particular is passive.

So the purge option only purges the "unprovisioned" devices and not all devices? I wasn't sure about that.

I ran the "display device directory" and saw the two devices that keep showing up were "unprovisioned."

    Thank you so much!

The actions are triggered by pressing the button. I'm still not really understanding what you're saying

Thanks for trying to understand. I know it is messy.

The C4 driver doesn’t work for on and off commands for the player. However, within the Zidoo, I can program the red button to turn off the player. I can now use the C4 remote to turn off the Zidoo with the red button. However, I was hoping there was a way to trigger the red button automatically when I turn off the room through C4, since the actual off command for the Zidoo doesn’t work.

  16. I don't understand what you are saying?
Sorry! I tried to make it as clear as I could but must have failed.
Basically, is there a way to program other events (e.g., room turning off) to trigger the color buttons (red, blue, yellow, green)? I only see the color buttons listed as Command Events, not Command Actions.
Or stated differently, is there any way to trigger the four color buttons through other Events (e.g., the room turning off).

(I just realized I had the post title backwards, so that probably didn’t help. Fixed now.)
  17. This is a weird issue, but thought I would at least try. I recently added a Zidoo media player to my system, and while the C4 driver does most of the basic functions, it doesn't turn on or off the player. I have been told elsewhere that I can set up C4 with WOL to turn it on and will probably have my dealer install Chowmain's Generic TCP Command driver (assuming that is the right one to use)). However, I have been messing around with powering off, and run into a weird issue.

On the player, the four colored buttons (red, yellow, green, blue) can be programmed for various commands, including powering off. So, I set up the red button to power off the player, and I can access the red button on my Halo Touch. However, like all of us strive for, I tried to program a command in HE to turn off the player using the red button when the room is turned off. But I discovered that while the four color buttons are listed as optional commands in room Events, they are not listed as commands for room Actions. I guess this makes sense, since the buttons are mostly used to trigger Events, not be the Action triggered by another Event, but as laid out above, if I can get C4 to send a command to initiate the red button when the room powers off, the Zidoo can be turned off too.

Does anyone know of a way I can make the red button an Event instead of an Action? Or any other way around this problem? Thanks!

  18. Hello,

I have been using the Chowmain Shelly driver for a while now, and really like it, but ran into a small problem. I deleted a couple of Shelly devices from the Shelly app and Control4 HE as I no longer use them. However, any time I try and add a new device using "Auto Setup" in the C4 driver (after having of course added the device to the Shelly app), the previously deleted devices are added too. Oddly, not all of my deleted devices, only two so far.

I am hoping someone, maybe @Andrew luecke, might have some ideas about what I am doing wrong. Thanks everyone!
