Infinity Edge TS and 2.10

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm thinking of upgrading from 2.9.1 to 2.10. I will be replacing my HC800 with an EA-5. I currently have 6 Infinity Edge TS and would prefer to only replace two of them with the WALL7s (as only two routinely used). Can the other Infinity Edge TS be left in the project/updated to 2.10? Will they run on 2.10? I don't use the intercom agent and don't plan to. If they can be upgraded, is there any functionality that would be lost (apart from the intercom agent)? Thx

They will be on 2.9.1 and will not update beyond this release but they will work fine in your project. Even intercom agent will work, I still have HC based system so not sure how they will behave with EA but I believe they will continue to function till C4 Discontinue them in a future release.

The Infinity Edge firmware tops out at 2.91. Once there they can function in a 2.10.x system, so you can upgrade as you wish.

Infinity Edge are FLASH based, new screens and processors are Andriod. They are likely to be left behind before too long.

2.9.1, don't go higher. why do you need 2.10? if you still have rest of your equipment same, why do you want to upgrade OS? Just in case Infinity TS doesn't work well with DS2 at all.

Yeah, I'm not sure what going from an HC800 to an EA is really going to accomplish?  You're paying extra for no additional benefits - or at least nothing big enough that I can think of to justify the jump.  Better to wait for newer gear to come out.

Thx for the responses. I guess my concern is how long the HC-800 will hold up. I've heard some are failing? <- any experts like to weigh in on this?

Anyone know how long until newer gear may arrive?

HC800 is a very solid piece of hardware, thought it will not pass end of this year, rumors are all over the place and will die sooner or later in favor of EA and newer controllers. With release 3.0 firing soon, all info will be revealed.  Go for the EA5 then replace the TS’s at a later step.
