Music starting randomly

Recommended Posts

Hi,

In the past 2 weeks, music (Pandora is the source) has started playing randomly from our Sonos Connect, which is tied into our C4 system

It happened once in the middle of the night maybe a week or so ago and then again last night and, my wife has just reported, today during the day

The Sonos Connect is tied into the in ceiling speakers spread throughout the house

While I it sounds like this could only be a Sonos issue, the room where this is occurring (our master bathroom) has to first be "turned on" before anything playing through the Sonos Connect would actually be audible in the room

And, by turned on, I mean that C4 has to activate that speaker in that particular room and then Sonos would need to start playing

As far as I know, the Shairbridge functionality that I used to have was deactivated months ago, so I don't think it could be related to that

Any ideas?

So you're sure there is no setup done to automatically turn on the room when Sonos is detected to be playing?

If not, than my first thoguh is to check if you have any wake-up that got set by accident

  • 4 weeks later...

The problem has resolved itself, this is what I did:

- Removed Pandora as a music service in Sonos

- Monitored the bathroom in C4 to see that these "phantom activations" were still occurring but, since Pandora was removed, no music would actually play

- Continued to monitor and, over the course of the next week or so, noticed that the phantom activations had stopped

- Went ahead and re-added Pandora as a music service in Sonos

- Problem hasn't recurred since

I did get in touch with my dealer who said that he had heard of what he called "phantom touches" of the bezel touch buttons on the touchscreen, secondary to possibly moisture or humidity, so maybe that was the cause (the touchscreen is in our master bath) or maybe not

Anyway, just wanted to report this followup, thanks
