Nesting of Advanced Lighting Scenes

Recommended Posts

Latest OS.

I've got 3 core scenes:

  1. Basement Lights off
  2. Main Level Lights off
  3. Upper Level Lights off

I was going to create "Whole House Lights Off" as the next scene, but can't seem to create "nested" scenes. That is, my first thought was to simply create a composite scene of the basic 3, but that doesn't seem possible.

Here's what I've done, but it seems like a hack:

  1. Create a scene "Whole House Lights Off" that's empty.
  2. In the Programming tab, selected that scene.
  3. In the "Is Invoked" event, programmatically trigger my 3 scenes.

From there, I can bind my "empty" scene to buttons and other triggers.

Is this the best way to go about this? It seems like a bit of a silly hack, and I'm missing something obvious.

It seems what you want would be much easier if you just added all of your lights to the scene you've already made (Whole House Interior Off) at 0% (off) in the Advanced Lighting Scene agent. Would take less than 5 minutes to do and then you could bind things directly to that scene (like a goodbye/goodnight button). Then if you want to change ramp rates for that scene, it isn't dependent on 3 other scenes.

Plus 1 for what Rea mentioned.

It does not matter if you already have scenes for some of the light circuits, a whole house off scene is a completely independent scene which is really useful for all kinds of programming and visuals.

I have loads of scenes which include almost identical settings.
House Off (all lights off)
Good Night (all lights off except master bedroom/ensuite)
Leaving (all lights off except entrance and driveway lights)
