DLNA My Music Error

Recommended Posts

I keep losing connection to our Plex server's DLNA server through the My Music DLNA connection.  Favorites for music there keep breaking and the server isn't able to be browsed.  Under properties, DLNA server, the plex server is selected and server online says true.  DLNA server selector is blank though and nothing is listed there in the dropdown.  Looking at the debugging log after I say rediscover I get:

----PARAMS----
ACTION = DlnaBeginDiscovery
---
04/25/22 16:55:41 : SSDP discovery socket online
LUA_ERROR [id: 739][name: My Music (DLNA)][file: MyMusicDLNA.c4z]: [string "Lua Code"]:160: attempt to index global 'Devices' (a nil value)
04/25/22 16:55:51 : SSDP discovery socket offline
04/25/22 16:58:41 : SSDP discovery socket online
04/25/22 16:58:51 : SSDP discovery socket offline
LUA_ERROR [id: 739][name: My Music (DLNA)][file: MyMusicDLNA.c4z]: [string "Lua Code"]:160: attempt to index global 'Devices' (a nil value)

SSDP discovery socket appears to be the problem?  Keeps cycling between on/offline

This was working very well before - anyone having this problem?  I'm using all unifi and had had UPnP turned off but turning it on didn't make a difference......

UPDATE: after activating the synology dlna server I can see that DLNA server in the server list and switch to that and seems to work properly.  I wonder if there was a plex update that broke things?

I too use Plex DLNA as my music server.

basically Control4 see all my folders of music and I can play them through touchscreen or app.

is there a way to make a playlist of songs so I don’t have to select individual songs?

would I do they in Plex or Control4?

 Thank you

Actually the best thing ever is a twonky server, its a snap and there is full search supported, its inceint but it works better than plex IMO ...

I totally agree with you @Amr - I solved my issue by switching to Twonky as my DLNA server.  It points to the same Plex music folder but it seems to be more stable that the Plex DLNA implementation plus, as you said, it supports search which has been a big plus for the family.  Love Plex otherwise but for DLNA implementation with C4 Twonky has been a great upgrade.
