Dueport
I'm trying to add a Govee Smart Kettle to C4 for a morning wake up routine. We've added the Chowmain Govee driver ( @alanchow and @Andrew luecke ) and I've activated the API key but it isn't importing any Govee devices - debugging appears to indicate it is only looking for lights. Is this driver limited to lights only?
msgreenf
It should support on off style devices too
Andrew luecke
If you PM me your API key, I'll take a look when I return to work . Some devices, irrespective of anything else don't seem to be accessible by us (like the Double GPO). However, this might be considered an appliance (which we don't currently support, however, I would want to confirm it is one, as we haven't come across anything in the field which is announced using the appliance API actually). alanchow
The driver was only written for lighting devices and smart sockets. We have not tested it with other devices. It may work or it may not. The API documentation list devices that work via their API. https://govee-public.s3.amazonaws.com/developer-docs/GoveeDeveloperAPIReference.pdf I am concerned that the appliance rate limit is 100 per day versus lighting which is 10,000 per day. What this means is that including both polling and control we can only talk to Govee appliances 100 times a day. This would make timelyness on feedback impossible. Thank you - looking at the documentation, it looks like this Kettle (Govee Product Model H7170) is an appliance but not a supported device in the current version of the API. Very frustrating on the part of Govee and explains why this isn't working. Appreciate your help @Andrew luecke and @alanchow
zaphod
I didn't know Govee made appliances! Interesting to see that they have a smart ice maker. I didn't know the world needed a smart ice maker. Dueport

The world didn't really need this smart kettle either but now that we have one it is kinda handy
zaphod
I can see the utility in the smart kettle - I can be sitting at my desk in the office and turn on the kettle in the kitchen. Then get notified when it has boiled. But don't you keep an ice machine always on? Or maybe there are places that they only make ice on "as needed" basis. But the lead time is a bit more than boiling water. Dueport

Every time we have a party, I have to remember to turn on the "max ice" mode so that we can keep up with demand during the party. If only our ice maker were "smart," I could schedule times for the "max ice" mode to turn on and off. Or, I could just link it to the party mode variable in C4. The possibilities are endless! zaphod
Cool, I did not know about max ice party mode! I take back my earlier assertion!
fleon
I actually have my ice maker turn off between 12pm and 8am. It's rather loud when it drops ice.

Andrew luecke
Hey guys, We've uploaded a new version of the Govee driver today (20230210) which adds some additional properties to help troubleshoot any rate limit issues people are having. So, if you've been having trouble, we recommend upgrading to this new version (please note, Light V1 does not include the additional feedback/properties, and it is strongly recommended to upgrade to OS3.3.X and Light V2) Andy msgreenf
