ajd123
What is the maximum length of a speaker cable run from the TS-PAMP8-100 to the speaker?
Matt Lowe
copper is limited to 300ft generally. The total amount of wattage at the end of that cable will depend on gauge. If you are using a long run, use the smallest gauge wire you can afford to run.
ajd123
Typically we use 14/2. Would there be much of a difference with 12/2? 12/2 speaker is about 40% more expensive than the 14/2 so would prefer no to waste the money if it wont make a difference... Would 12/2 wire fit into the spring clip speaker terminals on the Triad amp?
Matt Lowe
you'll be fine on 12/2 unless you are trying to run everything at 330ft

lippavisual
12/2 will be tough to fit in those phoenix connectors, hell even 14 awg is tough. You'll have to get creative if you want to use that size wire, ie: use 16 awg from amp to terminal strip/ 12 or 14 awg out to speakers. ajd123

Traditional banana won't fit, but pin connectors will. Fwiw, 14ga will fit into Phoenix just fine.

Last I tried with 14, it barely fits in and doesn't leave much room at all for compression on the wire. Unless they've changed the size of these terminals in the last year or so. Cyknight
2mm banana plugs should fit, though it's a bit awkward
Cyknight
Oh and use angled ones, not straight ones, as you'll need to off-set them (one up, one down, one up one down) on the blocks - hence the awkwardness

The standard 5mm 4 pole phoenix connectors (I don't think they've changed in a decade) are rated for up to 12ga. I'm 14ga bare stranded copper across all of my distribution amps (4x audiocontrol p800 with phoenix connectors), they terminated fine. I've never tried it with 12ga (the zones I run 12 and 10 don't go to phoenix connectors).
