  1. I have used PiHole for years. Occasionally I have to put stuff on the whitelist and I think that from time to time it may cause problems with voice control of Control4 using Alexa. I run PiHole in a Docker container on an unRAID server, which is where I run other stuff like a Unifi controller, Plex server, etc.
  2. I think this is very unlikely, but I would hope that in the future Composer and Composer HE become web applications so they are OS agnostic. Not what you asked for but it should allow you to fully run Composer on a Mac, Linux or Win PC.
  3. I have found that it is down fairly frequently and seems to come back without me having to take any action.
  4. I think the more correct way to put it, at least with Roku, is that only the high end player has an Ethernet port. On their website I see the following players: Express, Express 4K, Premiere, Stick, Soundbar and Ultra. Of those six players, only the Ultra has an Ethernet port.
  5. The minor advantages of built in apps: one less device to have networking issues, and one less IP address used, most of these TVs have an ethernet port so easier to use a wired connection cleaner setup without needing a device like a Roku, plus power supply. Pretty minor advantages though.
  6. I don't necessarily disagree with this, but why do you say that? I have several RokuTVs at home and also a few external devices and it isn't clear to me that the external are always better. I can see pros and cons for both.
  7. That's about the time mine went down but it is back now.
  8. Mine was down for a few days but is working again now. Over the last six months it has been done a handful of times that I have noticed.
  9. No. If you want to be able to do all of the programming yourself ask him to remove the bindings and do the programming in other ways, such as programming against a press, single tap, etc. You can lose some functionality, but at least you have full control, I have older keypads and with a binding you can press and hold to ramp lights up or down which you can't do with non-bindings. IMO it is annoying AF to not even be able to see bindings, never mind change them, from Composer HE.
  10. Your controller could be of benefit for someone who want to do an embernet to zigbee upgrade.
  11. Yes, so far media support and playback is the biggest drawback from what I can tell. It doesn't seem to have anywhere near the functionality of C4 in that area. But it was pretty easy to get up and running quickly. I installed Home Assistant as a docker on my unRAID server and it found a whole bunch of my smart devices, including Rokus, Plex servers, my SolarEdge solar power inverter, outlet switches, Govee and Magic Home LED light strip controllers, Harmony remotes, Unifi devices, Tasmota MQTT devices, Carrier Infinity Furnace, etc. And they were working within 15 minutes of downloading the docker. I then added my C4 devices and it found all my lights. I was also able to add stuff for which there may not be a proper C4 driver, like "unoffical" APIs - such as for a Tesla. I probably have more third party devices in HA than in C4 without actually looking too hard. I must say that as an end user it is nice to be able to easily add a new device, like an outlet plug, or LED light strip, and use it in your HA system immediately without having to pay $75-100 for a driver and without needing a dealer to set it up for you. And HA works well through a web browser - I keep waiting for Composer to becoming a web application and for there to be a Web Navigator. That is somewhat less necessary by running the Android app under Win11 in WSA.
  12. Thanks. I did install some of the drivers in HA, but not in C4. This give me some control of C4 media devices in HA, like volume, but the transport controls don't seem to work. So maybe this is the driver that I need to allow that. Any idea what I have to do with this driver? Do I need to install the HA-Base driver in C4 first? Then install this driver? And do you need one instance of this driver, or one in each room with media devices?
  13. Anyone know how to change the time in WSA? My WSA client is showing a time of 2:09, when my local time is 11:09. But Composer shows the right time.
  14. Thanks Gary. I am running HA in a docker container on an unRAID server. I copied the files over to the /appdata/Home-Assistant-Container/custom-components folder. It turns out I had already added Control4 to HA, but not through HACS so it said something like Control4 already installed. I already had the lights in the system, but not the media players which are now in the system. The volume works and I appear to be able to turn the media on and off, but not use the pause/play buttons, at least not in my initial testing.
  15. Is there any way to control media stuff from HA in C4? For example, I have on instance where I am using a Harmony remote. I can control that through HA, is there any easy way for C4 to control that? That says coming soon on that driver.
  16. @GaryK How do you add that to HA? Via HACS? I don't see it when I search in HACS. Do you have to download manually?
  17. It depends on the actual switch as well.
  18. I am not sure about HomeKit since Apple's tendency is to keep you within their own ecosystem as much as possible, and I say this as a dedicated iOS adherent. But Home Assistant has become quite impressive and is becoming a viable alternative for some, but it may be too geeky for the masses.
  19. What's the official Windows 11 app? Or do you mean the Android app running under WSA on Windows 11? I only say this to clarify for people - there used to be a Control4 "native" Windows application that ran using Flash. But that went away years ago, or at least when OS3 was released.
  20. Thanks Mitch, but how come no one noticed it other than me? Does that tell you that no one is using it?
  21. Thanks Darin. Was that oversight just in the Amazon Appstore for Canada, or for all supported countries?
  22. I finally got around to trying WSA on a Win11 PC and I don't see the C4 app in the Amazon Appstore. Perhaps this is because I am in Canaa. Anyone else have it working in Canada - any tricks to get it working?
  23. What's the current status of the Berto MQTT drivers? What versions of C4 do they work on?
  24. But would the iBeacon technology work to be able to tell which room you are in within your house, rather than just saying if you are in the house?
