  1. The other thing that would be cool in the driver Dude is a "leave player on" option at room shut down.. or an always leave player on option within the driver.... Cheers
  2. Yep awesome driver hey Dude any chance of mapping that Input button on the Oppo remote? Even better discrete codes..That sure would be more useful than a few of the other buttons Dude!
  3. I need to use ARC because run out of cat5/6 options to get digital audio back from TV (playing TV channels direct and apps on TV). The Oppo sitting in cupboard back behind TV can pick up ARC and route it onto amp (15 meters away in Rack in garage to decrease fan noise etc) via second HDMI (audio only) out. This is working well and along with the HDMI *in*, and a fantastic IR receiver that picks up IR bounced off walls ...(seriously guys you should check this out on the Oppo its awesome)... is one of the most underrated uses of the Oppo...
  4. Hey Alan. I have just put in an Oppo 203 4K and I gather your driver works a treat with this player. I have put in the Oppo as much not only for the 4K but to use it's HDMI inputs to carry ARC/APTV and Dual HDMI outputs (one for audio) -The new Apple4K ATV doesn't have separate digital audio out as you know) I have a very long HDMI run from my receiver to the 4KTV like 15 m beyond the tech specs of carrying a 4KUHD signal. So the Oppo is near the TV feeding awesome 4K video and outputting ARC from the TV Audio, Audio from the AppleTV and Audio from bluray returning to the receiver down a HDMI balun.... but i clearly need to be able to select the source via the Oppo... So my specific questions are does your driver support discrete inputs on that HDMI source input? I want to use all three Bluray/HDMI/ARC. On the IR remote there is only one button that cycles the inputs..... Does it support mapping of the HDR button? Does it support mapping of the Zoom button? Thanks so much Alan! W
  5. The question was is it becoming. Not has it become... and ...."at the low end"....
  6. MSG, ya'll been using a HEOS source into the Matrix previously to get spotify. Right? So I guess with this new Control4 specific Spotify Connect source now (be it the HC800, or whatever controller you like), you don't need a HEOS for that now right? So you ditching HEOS from your projects now when folks just want Spotify? Just Curious. Thanks!
  7. Actually you make a good point here.. thinking about this again it aint too bad using the end sources volume... if that is set "fixed initially" it's going to stop blowing speakers... one of the Spotify apps problems I've noticed is it sometimes opens full volume when you "connect".. folks need to watch that!
  8. That is stay within the Spotify App for music of course What I am saying is Control4 has to ditch the idea of forever trying to compete with Music service apps... Two reasons IMHO 1/ their TS's never keep up with the latest iphone/smart phone interfaces...the speeds and smarts etc of those.... 2/ They will never be able to keep up with the app and software innovation within each service IMHO... so just let the services do it, by all means have additional control and apps that bring music into the Control4 eco system and onto the Control4 touchscreen but always give the end user the option of using either..
  9. Sure, Um but the who idea is to stay within the Spotify app... We have been there done that with Sonos... swapping in/out of apps...Control4 then had it "all sorted" once and everything reached Nirvana as we lived in the Control4 app with music, then Sonos screwed it all up...
  10. This is awesome how they have done this.. Thanks for the write up
  11. Thanks CY... is this volume thing something that is fixable you think with later software upgrades? I mean without a fix it's going to be kinda annoying having to flip in and out of apps.... I mean that is the whole point of Spotify Connect- you stay within Spotify.. just sayin..
  12. Thats great What router, network, firewall setup, DOS filters, etc do you have? There are so many variables between everyones systems... It is simply impractical to suggest end users move to the one "endorsed" Control4 network Sure the general principles of dumb unmanged switches, fixed IP addresses etc etc but everyone with the same network? And what do you do and how do you plan for the "unplanable" and unforseen "black swan" like the recent DOS attack on DNS.org etc? Or a new TV that doesn't "play ball"..or a firmware that hasn't been upgraded a while by the customer? Or the customer loads on some bogus app onto their droid TV that creates a big black hole in their network? Or adds in a second WIFI access point that causes havoc, or an end user adding in and trialling a different UPnP server that might put a larger load on the network? Or any number of infinite uncontrollable or unforseen possible events? Does Control4 seriously think their dealer network will do all that and supervise such network changes for the customer? Or worse expect them come out and fix it? That I think is the problem and why I ask all the time for more robust Control4 "backup plans" Be they a better more "network storm proof" primary controller..or secondary IR backup functionality... How many different makes of IP addressable devices? I would have probably well over 20-30 maybe more different makes... My TV simply trashed my network - Ok? Did i want this to happen? No. Did I plan for it? No. Was it hard to locate the issue with so many independent devices on the network? Yes. Do I deliberately want to cause trouble around here? Of course not. Do I have members of the opposite sex screaming at me and eye rolling me 24/7 because they can't "just watch simple TV"?.. darn right I do! (My Sony TV is sorted now btw... had to do a complete reset of Android from scratch...) Cheers W
  13. Forget it I get fed up suggesting things around here to make it better for all... Or asking "why" things couldn't be improved or done better... Oh no.. Can't possibly rock the C4 bus. "It's simply perfect" Enjoy your HA systems ... W
  14. Yep exactly that sort of simple thing... and maybe input changes..
  15. Do you have a network with over 75 IP devices addressable? It may not be the actual network that fails...but the IP control of the particular device in question.. (like it is no longer "seen" anymore .. for whatever reason) When it's say a TV...and a simple IR command like "on" (say after a power failure) might resolve the issue.. why not? Don;t tell me other people never have to reach for the other remotes ever, because I just simply do not believe you. Cheers W
  16. Why couldn't it be designed to work exactly like it does with the Harmony? ONLY If you have a problem..> then push that button...> send IR command> interact with the SR260 GUI (as to what you are doing)...
  17. Exactly. Thanks for confirming network control is never 100% reliable. I was simply suggesting a better way to achieve exactly what you are doing using the SR250/260 (without having to find then pick up the original remotes) Then I get attacked as if I am some sort of moron. Oh no.... "you couldn't possibly do that..." Well why not? It's done with the Harmony If I don;t fully understand the technical reasons? Then fine. I accept that.. but surely this problem is not insurmountable? Is it a crime to ask questions around here now? Cheers
  18. You got me all wrong. I wasn't insulting you. "Petulant Child" was referring to myself. Talking and posting in the "First person". Go back and re-read... as in "blah blah.. blah blah blah.... Regards Petulant Child" Anyway Take it or leave it. I know I was referring to myself when i wrote it. I don't care anymore what others think of me. I know how the system works (in the real world) You guys need to hear it.. and send the message back. C4 Central doesn't listen to us.. Cheers
  19. Nobody "finds" problems deliberately. Sh!t just happens in networks and with networked devices OK? This is where there remains a fundamental disconnect. Control4 must learn to live in the real world. Adding network AND IR options from a device like an SR260 would be a darn good way of living in that real world... Like somebody said.. this is a definite advantage of the Harmony. Now fess up and accept that as a fact... Nobody said control4 needs to be a magic wand and fix everything. However, Moving to a 100% network control philosophy (whilst everyone agrees is admirable) does break down occasionally in the real world. I would take a guess, more often than not, than some around here would care to admit... TV's are very common devices. Direct IR remains a very robust way of simple on/off and input switch control.. So logic follows it would be awesome to have IR backup somehow built into the Control4 platform. So if a network command continually fails, the end user has an an option to let IR step in... And what better way that a dual network/IR control device like an SR260 with IR emitter? Luv and kisses. Petulant child xxxxxx
  20. ^ Don't treat me as being stupid. I know how the SR250 and 260 currently works Then the current setup is a flawed design. So it has a built in IR emitter already ? that true? Fix it and redesign it... Give us the option. W
  21. "You will do it our way or else" "Stop questioning us" because "We know what's best for you" "Now go back to the rear of the class and sit down you annoying little child"
