  1. People around here should accept that network control and the system is not 100% reliable all the time and Control4 should give us some options to get ourselves out of the odd pickle on occasions Geeeez. Some of us different, OK? As Elmo once said... Different is good
  2. I'm talking about giving back the added flexibility to the SR250 and SR260... It's got nothing to do with using apps, or ios or TS.. We still have an SR250 and 260 in all critical watching rooms.. in addition to all the other options... We happen to think this is still a pretty handy device to have lying around....even if it tends to disappear down the sofa gap on occasions..
  3. Oh and BTW this is likely to become more and more a problem as we lose robust serial as a control option... (and the switch is on to network control) I'm saying network control is flawed sometimes and there needs to be a backup. Some around here can keep their heads in the sand and think network is 100% reliable 24/7, but that is just BS frankly.. It never will be. So without some sort of IR backup, frankly a 100% switch to network control is a train wreck of an approach IMHO.. 100% network control just does not cut it in the real world I am afraid.. way too many variables... be honest with yourselves and answer one question. How many of you still have the original remotes lying around in a draw? Lets do a poll shall we?
  4. No it is not. We are the end customer. We pay the money..
  5. Bollucks. The SR260 is still designed like a traditional Universal remote. It even looks like one. It's an association in the mind thing.. There is absolutely zero reason why end users shouldn't be given the option to use it like that... I'm not saying make it just shoot IR.. I'm saying give us the option (on occasions)..
  6. Why? Harmony seems to have been able to do it perfectly... Give one of the keys a "failsafe" command... The GUI on the SR260 could be used for feedback.... I get tired of Control4 and (some dealers) not listening to the experience of end users... clearly valuable feedback from the field in real life situations (when the dealer isn't there ) never gets fed back .... I've been telling you guys that this would be a valuable addition (when things fail)..which they do from time to time. No denying it.. Take it or leave it Whether dealers think it is a good idea or not is frankly irrelevant. You don't live in our houses 24/7...
  7. Years ago when it was a 250 even.. i suggested this was a good idea... and I keep coming over situations when gee wiz... i just wish the SR260 had an IR transmitter built into the end of it... kinda like the Harmony... So if network control fails. >. send IR command... and low and behold again... i have another example as my state of the art Sony tv dumps on my network and i have to pull out the ethernet chord... So can Control4 please think about designing something like this ? Thanks W.
  8. Control4 and some dealers have known about this for weeks..

Would depend on your timeline of purchase..

I can send you a link with  the annoucement from C4HQ with the actual date on it if you want..

  9. It takes literally hours and hrs..if not days to build a full Kodi box..with all the apps and possible experiences.. However the Kodi menu in this situation can get very cluttered, very quickly: particularly for the (non) Kodi user That's why I was simply investigating whether or not two could be run in the same room... and how the drivers might work in this scenario.. Looks like it might be just "too hard".. and I'll stick with the one box per room... On that note, is there a real easy way to back up an old Kodi settings, apps, all the shares etc and port them to a new box? Rather than having to build the new one from scratch?
  10. Yes.. but it might get confusing for others who pick up the SR260 or go to a touchscreen etc.. Geeeez So that's why I asked about changing the names of the sub drivers.. and whether the Kodi sub menus also needed to change in naming (to match).. Heck how did I know that would still necessarily work? Like I said. There is often a disconnect with what's possible (and whether it should actually be done) Good night.
  11. Let me explain.what if a customer wants to have two Kodi boxes as two separate sources on the one Matrix. Why would you do this you ask? Well you might want to keep a "clean" box with just a nice clear interface for music and your NAS movies.. And you might want another ("not so clean") one fresh from the "Kodi Community" with all the apps (so to speak) Each Kodi box has a Movie, Live TV, Music and Video submenu.. Kodi box 1 might be predominantly NAS streamed content Kodi Box2 might be non NAS streamed content.. but they all appear under the same "Movie", Live TV, Music.. etc etc submenus.. Na forget it.. I know what I want to do, (even if others don;t) but as usual there is a total disconnect... I need a life. Good night (lol)
  12. I get that. Do you guys think I'm stupid? I'm talking about running two sets of sub drivers (of the Full driver).. Like two movies, music, live TV etc etc.. The issue is (with all due respect) whether this could get confused in programming, calling the subdrivers etc etc...
  13. Yeah OK. Sure. I'm not a moron.. I was just asking if it's possible (or beneficial) or even desirable to use two full drivers in the one project (with all the sub drivers) that's all. It's not even clear if it can be done. Cheers
  14. Ok. So do I run 1 full and 2 "light"? You would only need the one "full" version per project right?
  15. I have some more q's Alan. Are the "sub" driver names...you know ...Movies, TV shows, Music, Video Files (and the like) Configurable?... ie do they have to match up exactly with the same menu names in Kodi? So Could I say change the sub driver "Music" to "NAS music" (as long as the name was exactly the same in Kodi).. and "NAS Movies" in both driver and Kodi menu? If you get my drift? LOL
  16. Alan. If I plan to run more than one version of your driver. (I now have 3 Kodi boxes), what's the deal? And what is the best setup you think? One on Kodi Full (with all the fruit) and the other two on "Lite"? Thanks W
  17. Alan C's Kodi Driver totally rocks. Best thing since sliced bread is turned to toast in the C4 toaster. ! W Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Yep my point exactly on the other thread. Where are all the "inbuilt variables" and inbuilt macros? This could take days if not weeks to get to some sort of decent functionality .... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. ^ Ah Ok Alan. LOL hahaha fair enough! You know how it is sometimes (If everyone spent hours and hrs reading documentation sometimes nothing in a project would ever get achieved) Thanks Alan. (P.S The Context Button in Kodi is very important as you no doubt know)
  20. ^ But there is a Menu button and an Info Button in Control4 but they aren't mapped in your driver???
  21. Hi Alan. Can I ask a couple questions/give some feedback on this TOTALLY AWESOME driver! In preparing to dump Sonos for my openELEC streaming box (which I have now split off stereo audio into the Control4 audio matrix using a JayCar HDMI extractor) I noticed there is no Kodi "Context Menu" button mapped onto the SR250 in your driver. Can I suggest this gets mapped by default in the driver? It drove me nuts trying to find the Context menu (to scan and add a library)..only to find there was no default Context Menu button on your driver!!!!! I kept pushing the "Guide" button (and popping up DVR guide hahahahaha) because the guide button is one of the defaults on an MCE remote for the Context Menu... Maybe the "Menu" button would be appropriate?..then again we found there is no mappable way to map onto the SR250 "Menu" button with your driver. Or "Info" button either for that matter. Why is that? Cheers W
  22. Where is the eject button mapped to on a SR260? Thanks
