  1. Control4 sold itsself because: There was not the expected revenue and growth Major shareholders wanting to cash in and they increased the pressure after stock price plummeted and Neo acquisition will cost resources. Why did Control4s reven and growth not meet expectations? My 2c: 1 - the dealer only model does not attract new customers. It is limiting Control4 growth - I am sure of that. It's the major thing holding Control4 back. 2 - Entry costs are still high. HW needs to be cheaper and 4sight needs to be mandatory, maybe in different levels between 50 and 200$ per year depending on project sizes 3 - Lack of innovation. OS3 took ages and Control4 still doesn't support media management via web, support of TV series and ZigBee 3 is nowhere be seen...and I am not even talking about voice recognition..... Dealers should realize that DiY will likely make them more money in the end as it lowers the entry cost and if systems get larger they are back in the game. So let's see what SnapAV makes out of it....
  2. Besides, as mentioned above, it could have been pending update which took longer than anticipated I would just ask the dealer if it was him and then ask him to try to avoid it - since the system isn't finalized yet I wouldn't make a fuzz about
  3. If the project is not completed yet, what's the issue with the dealer working remotely?
  4. In Composer He check the volume for the audio out. I had updates which magically muted my audio outs more than once
  5. They amphasize its dealer based and the dealer is ur 1st point of contact - however if u shoot c4 an email they take care of it, but it's not their primary business practice :-)
  6. Control4 as a company does not like to talk to the end user, it's usually all via the dealer. Hence we don't get release notes, bug tracker and public betas.
  7. I can imagine that. But the wider the audience the more feedback and sometimes new ideas you get - since C4 does no public betas no one here knows, so I thought its worth menitioning thx, thats perfect. Seems so: https://drivers.control4.com/solr/drivers/browse?&q=&fq=manufacturer:"DENON"
  8. Great, never doubted its a good OS - Maybe you can pass that on: plz make it HTML5 for more uniformity and design options (floorpans, complex graphics !!!!) (RTI seems better here), make media management web based and add support ZigBee 3.0 devices ZLL (wouldn't mind additional charge here but the lack of ZigBee 3 seems really limiting Control4 for the future especially since they advertise over 13k+ 3rd party devices)
  9. OK, thx. But I still think the icons are too big and there would be enough space to present the media bar the same way or at least in the same position on all screens - see my post above EDIT: Since you say you work for Control4, there are some issues with the HEOS driver:
  10. Hi Does the content of your media bar flicker? My icon "play/pause" and volume do flicker every 2 or so seconds. Wouldn't be so bad if every time it flickers its aborting any input, i.e volume adjust gets aborted - it just sets the volume to the point where it is updating again - makes it very hard to use EDIT: The flickering is not preset on the "now playing" screen
  11. Looks like the media bar can be extended by swiping upwards - this seems to be indicated by the " - " on top of the bar. An "arrow upwards" would have been easier to recognize.
  12. It is on a phone and it looks like ur screenshot. But I still don't fully understand it because: 1 - many phones ahve a high resolution and could easily display the media bar 2 - the icons on the homescreen are huge - they could be smaller in general or resizie to be smaller when playing media to make space for the media bar 3 - on the "now playing" page there is coverart on top and the queue below. When I scroll the queue it goes upward and uses space from the coverart to make up mor space for the queue list - this could also be done at the homescreen to make scrlling icons easier when the media bar is displayed I got to use OS 3 and the UI more but for now it does have drawbacks which and isn't as much of a new GUI that I hoped for...
  13. Hi I was just browsing some of the videos here ´: https://control4.com/os3/getting-the-most-out-of-os3 and was wondering about the "Active media bar" which doesn't appear on my Android device (APP is 3.0) - is the OS 3.0 GUI really that heterogeneous?
  14. Gotta check when I get home in 4hrs. Can't remember right now.
  15. Hi Has anyone tried OS 3 and Denon Heos? In my system browsing doesn't work correctly as within local media it doesn't list all tracks some albums. Additionall I cannot start playback if Tunein channels and local media by selection he item - it only works with selection the "dots" on the right side
  16. Most ppl don't buy an iPhone ever year
  17. True. I would rather like that EOL would be even later. I am not talking about new features on a new OS, just keeping the hardware within the project and the ability use it with the old feature set would be enough for me. Our old TS, the 3.5" version from, uh like 2006 worked a heck of a long time but couldn't be upgraded beyond 2.0.4 or something like that. But in the end Control4 needs to generate revenue and that's mostly via HW sales. Could be different if Control4 would be subscription based though
  18. Depends of the severity of the security issue if one arrives. However I am pretty certain that at leat one 2.10.x release is still to come, maybe even 2.
  19. I know that back then an new UI was android. However I obviously misunderstood that it is not flash based anymore - I thought it was flash on Android. Even though Android is better than flash I nevertheless think HTML5 would be better, more flexible and can be uniformly displayed on any device - missed opportunity here and I am not saying the new UI is trash, it looks nice!
  20. Ahhhhh yeah!!!! Why not make that a feature....and talk about it.
  21. Thanks. Allowing customers more GUI customization and a new look is nice. But I think C4 missed the opportunity to actually change important things to keep up with competitors and technology: HTML5 instead of flash based: This would enable Control via Web interface and would be future proof since flash is more than EOL. (MyHome Windows app sucks) Change media management to be web based, - like Plex and Emby And finally support TV series!!!! More customizable GUI so far that driver creators can build custom pages via HTML for floor plans (neat for alarm systems), schedules, logs and text, custom graphics for energy management tank levels etc.... possibilities here are endless.. The update of OS3 only seem to be made so that customers can change their system via the GUI and web (mycontrol4 login) without the need for Composer HE, so that there isn't any struggle between the dealers and customer in who f****** up the system/programming - nothing wrong in that per se, but again I do see it as a missed opportunity to make fundamental and necessary changes PS: down the road I guess composer HE will be gone. The current changes hint to that
  22. No one exactly knows the cha ges yet. Relax and wait for the release and then decide if u want to upgrade.
