Probably not without modifying the driver.

I don't know much about the TiVo driver, I didn't write it, although I may have modified it at some point in the past.

It's possible that it's not encrypted, if so, you could probably make the changes yourself, or hire someone to do it.

The one thing I'm sure of is that I don't have the time anytime soon.

    Sorry.

    RyanE

Oddly enough I’m told this feature isn’t in the API.  Oh well.  Seems like an odd omission but life goes on

  2. @RyanE - a little birdie told me you may know about this driver.

Getting it set up, I see all the options within Composer HE to map buttons.  The default for page up/down on the remote is thumbs up/thumbs down.  As of now, dont see myself using that feature all too much.  I am trying my best to re-create the same experience as using my cable box and wanted a page up/page down function for navigating the guide.

The TiVo remote has the Page Up/Page Down button, but under the commands/mapping I do not see Page Up/Page Down as an option to map to the Page Up/Page Down buttons on the SR remotes.

Could this be accomplished somehow and I am just missing it?

  3. Almost been a month - shameless bump.  Anyone?  No one has any Sagemcom boxes in the field that have suddenly stopped working with IR codes?

I've found some people on Reddit have had IR issues too recently - but they are using different universal remote systems - but the problems still persist and their issues are identical.

I am mostly missing Page Up/Down, DVR, Guide, Menu, Last/Recall.  0-9 and channel up/down seem to work but that's about it.

And this is where everyone is different. Most people could careless about Pandora

well I like Pandora because I am lazy and its been running for a decade in my house.  That said, it comes free already with C4, so unless BlueOS is sending the band live to my house to perform, I'll take the free C4 integration (that has been around for years already)

I just found out after having c4 for three years about Composer HE. I've asked my dealer to give me a subscription so I can manage some of my own settings etc. He is telling me that composer he is a nightmare and referred to it as a dumpster fire and instead gave me access to his Pro account which I thought was quite surprising. Is anybody else having issues with Composer HE? Can anyome find a reaaon why my dealer doesnt want to sign me up for it? I'm sick of having all sorts of"bugs" all the time and not knowing whether my issues are really being addressed or not. Hellllp!

that is rather shocking.  HE is just Composer Pro "Lite" if you will.  So if he said HE is a dumpster fire, Pro would be a dumpster fire with more gasoline poured on top

His logic, to me, makes zero sense.  And I think he can lose his dealership if he gives you Pro and is caught

For you, its a win since you can do anything you want.

Word of caution, for Pro or HE, before you make any changes, make a backup of the project, then program away and save again.  this way if you mess up, you have an older state to revert/reload.

How do you find the smart capabilities of the Rachio, or do you even use that?  And do you know if you can connect a Hunter rain sensor to a Rachio?  Or do you even need that?

i use the smart features, and no real need for a physical rain sensor.  in some areas it may be required by ordinances I suppose

It is about a year and a half since this thread.  I still am using my Irrigation Caddy but would like to replace it.  My Irrigation Service guy is a Hunter dealer so I could use a Hunter Controller.  Does anyone know if the Hunger software has improved at all?  Hunter is easiest for me since he is familiar with the app so he could easily control my system when he comes to turn it on in the spring and to blow it out in the autumn.

Do either Rachio or Hunter controllers have an ethernet port in addition to Wifi?  I could easily run a cable to the location of my controller.  Is it pretty easy to switch over to a new controller?  I have to think it is just a case of changing wires from the Common and each zone to the new controller, is it not?

    wiring should be easy

I used to have a "dumb" irrigation unit and I just matched the colors into the zones of the new one.  for instance, purple wire went to zone 1, red wire went to zone 2, orange to zone 3 and so on...

re: Hunter software, no idea, I just use Rachio.  when my tech comes over, though I can give him access, I just press a few buttons and do 3 mins per zone and it runs on auto and I walk away.  pretty simple.

Ok, in this case setup the Kunuomagic for h265 at 38Mbps  (main stream).  It will look very good.

ok sounds good - thanks.  I emailed you the two devices I am comparing (Uray vs Kunuo)

Are you referencing the HDCP 2.2 Kunuo?  Please see the links I emailed and let me know your thoughts when you can.

Use either the Kunuomagic or the new Shineco 4kp60, both are HDCP 2.2 and support both h264 and h265.  Email us for the purchase contacts on these.

In setup, use h265 unless you still have VRX020/10s in the system.  If so, use h264.

I am only using a VRX020 as the manager of the system, all end points are either Sony TVs or AFT/Shields.

I won't use Shineco products, I have one of their other models and its awful.  I need to have it set to reboot 2x a week and the picture quality leaves something to be desired.  My installer had some Shineco products too and he wasn't thrilled with them.  That is why I hestiate on Kunuomagic and I was leaning towards Uray

I will email you regardless - thanks!

Getting the 4Kp60 HDCP 2.2 encoders is going to be the best way to go.  It always works (gives you 4K) regardless of the source.

4Kp30 HDCP 1.4  with a converter in the middle can work (4Kp30 delivered), but it is really source and convertor dependent.  No harm in trying of course.

That said, for most content the 4K encoders aren't worth the price premium over the 1080p ones.

I finally need to move, my VTX (10 years old not complaining) just needs constant reboots.

Any major diff between URay or Kunuomagic and H264 vs H265.  Both have 4 channel models with 1.4 (2 at 4k, 2 at 1080p) and both have a H264 or a H264&265 model and prices are close.  Any recommendation on brand and feature w the 264 vs 265 for use in Netplay?

This comes up time and time again. Your generator needs to be tuned to the right frequency.

If you electrician/installer states it is; he's wrong.

Generator at a proper frequency of 59.94 means no issues with the lights.

my electrician said it hovers between 59.7-60.02hz and would look to see if there is a parameter to make it fixed.  he said the frequency naturally dips as it becomes loaded to varying degrees of demand and its always trying to maintain 60hz.  He said if it goes too far under or over it will shut down to prevent damage.

Do you have documentation on how to set a Generac to 59.94?  He is going to ask around but this is the first he is hearing about it...

Ok So we all have same issues. We don't know the solution. I wonder if this is a bug for everybody who has generator and C4 Dimmers. Unless you have whole house Battery backup like Tesla powerwall this would be a problem.

I wonder if the off for 5 seconds > generator kicks on > lights are powered again is the issue versus just losing power for a long time then coming back online.  maybe the brief downtime is harder on the internal electronics?

well I like your method to "reboot" better than mine, though it is certainly not a smooth response to the issue.

Cant see spending $1,000's for a home battery set up to gap 5 seconds before my generator kicks in....

I’ve Generac generator too. Every time power goes out the multibutton keypads flash lights and need to be rebooted. V odd. And annoying as someone needs to be present to reboot them all.

hmm  I mostly notice the issues on dimmers, or keypad dimmers.  Not my switches or general keypads (non dimmer models).  but yes, it is annoying but I think going into HE is an easier fix then removing faceplates and physically rebooting...

guess I need a battery back up on my panel to give me 7-10 seconds before the generator kicks on.  My electrician will have a good laugh at this....

Did you end up with IP verso 2.0? I love my current DS2 for looks and functions but hate the camera. Can’t wait to upgrade it. Chime is too tiny for my house from aesthetics. If I can get chime camera in DS2 form I am in. The 2N verso 2.0 looks promising on specs.

    https://www.eholovision.com/solutions/2n-solutions/

These are highly customizable.  They take the guts of Doorbird or 2n and put them into a different faceplate with different sizes, colors, etc.  You can give them the backbox dimensions on your current DS2 and I think the 300 or 400 series would likely fit but they could confirm

I know this is old thread but I have exact issue. UPS and generator protecting C4 HC800 with 3.3.1 director. However with every outage the generator kicks in after flickers on lights and c4 dimmers which are on go dim. The only way to restore full brightness is to go director and auto detect dimmer phase . Everytime it works. However is annoying as I am in Texas and we do have power issues. Anybody found any fix? May be the generator reverses the phase and when power comes it’s not resetting as the hand off from generator to utility is seemless. This is more of dimmer and generator issue vs control 4 controller power issue.  My dimmer phase is on auto detect and just pressing set fixes the issue.

    thoughts?

interesting timing - I am in the same boat - Generac generator, my EA5/EA1 are on UPS, but my electrical panel isnt, and when we lose power it take ~5 seconds for the generator to kick on.  that is enough to mess with my dimmers.  I used to walk up to each one that was messed up, and use the toggle on the top to reboot them.  That is a pain as some are more recessed than others and I need to take off the faceplate, etc...

So I read your post, and that does resolve the issue.  What I noticed is my dimmers all said "reverse phase" and when I hit auto detect, it said detecting....and eventually said reverse phase again.  so its not as if it "lost" or "mixed up" the phases...

  16. Getting a message of “power outage” yet I can control the device via c4 iOS app.

it should be hardwired for power though it has a battery for backup

we also had a 2 min power outage last night but we have a backup generator - which did click in as expected.  Not sure if they are related as I notice power outages mess up our c4 dimmers and we need to usually reboot them post power outage

    Hi there,

I know many of the members on the forum are Control4 dealers so I thought I would ask here. I am just starting to do home automation/technology systems on the side and would love to offer Control4 systems. I don't have projects on a consistent basis but would still like to be able to install Control4. Are there any sales requirements or business size requirements for becoming a dealer? I'm just gathering the information to see if this is something I may do in the future.

    Thanks!

    Carter

If you are in the 48 States - given your brief summary - you will not qualify to be a dealer

Why would they have designed a program with a feature for remote login that requires a VPN for remote login. I feel like this is a work around, but not a solution which the developers need to address.

HE is meant for home users.  Home users are typically on their home network

    Curious.

You don't get a lot of reluctance from takeovers, or delays making decisions?
It's not as bad as the person buying a home with a system installed, but they do seem to stretch the project more than necessary.
We do the on site, reply with a report of where they're at, their issues, and the solutions, providing options and stages, and it's like getting children to eat their vegetables. Yes, you need to address the network. Yes, the HC300 needs to go.
Feels like the previous company walked because they didn't want to spend the effort to service them any longer.

not a dealer here - but for the "new homeowner" who buys a house with C4 installed (or Savant or Crestron, etc)....someone who just purchased a new house...its $$$$$$ to buy the house, move your stuff (or have it in storage, then move it) and you may need to paint, do the floors, add window treatments, fix things that are broken/out of code, blah blah blah.  and now someone is coming in and saying you need to upgrade home automation stuff so you can watch TV or listen to music or use your doorbell- all before knowing what the automation can do - its just a lot at once and 95% of people have no clue about home automation, but they know about paint or removing carpet - those are "expected" costs of moving.  replacing an HC300 isnt really an "expected cost" most consumers budget for when buying a home.  Look up any online resource for moving guides and what to expect, and no one mentions home automation take over costs, so yeah, I can see a lot of home buyers being like WTF.....I mean here in the US I wonder if home inspection reports will even include HA equipment - regardless if it is working, is it considered "infrastructure".  A report would look at your electrical box and say its up to code, has X circuits or something...but would they look at an AV rack and say there are 50 ethernet runs in the house?  likely no.  so from the POV of a new home owner, I could see budget issues/reluctance...

on the other side, if you paid to put stuff in and your dealer did a subpar job, I could see why you are hesitant to hire someone else to do the same "job" but do it right this time.  What dealer is going to say "yes its 100% on me why things arent working, go find someone better".  The dealer will disappear, or blame the product, or blame the homeowner.

Its unfortunate, and I've always thought C4 should have a more formal "take over" procedure and then hand it off to a local dealership who specializes in takeovers.  I could see having a small % of dealerships in a market that get fed "takeover" referrals from C4 corporate, and dont have the sales quotas but can be a smaller shop focused more on programming/service and yes sell, but selling/quota wouldn't required to keep their dealership status.  Build those businesses on programming/drivers/wiring/infra type stuff to fix/clean up what is there...Kind of like remote dealers, but local resources as some people would rather deal with a local business.
