  1. Ah, Ubiquiti fan. Explains everything. I would never buy Ubiquiti personally. THAT is a hot piece of trash.
  2. I see it as in-stock. Access is only good for WiFi hardware, the rebranded Ruckus APs are pretty decent. They don't sell to end users, dealers do.
  3. The RK-1 is the best of the routers provided by Snap One, it IS the flagship.
  4. If you have issues after logging out of each system and logging back in, it would be good to call a dealer or Control4 customer advocacy. The change is one-way, the old intercom app will only work with OS2 systems. Also note: iOS will not have early media, you will have to answer to see anything.
  5. I prefer my RK-1 over any router I have ever used. They have been updated to be OvrC enabled, so they still have software support.
  6. For security updates, a reasonable minimum is 5 years after last device of that model is sold. As it is, I wouldn't trust an IoT device if it had not had an update in the prior six months. With as fast as vulnerabilities are being found, it is good to know that a device is still prioritized with the company.
  7. You have a point on a requirement for a manufacturer to guarantee security updates. The recent legislation in that regard is pushing manufacturers to implement autoupdate so consumers and installers do not have to manually update. The security legislation passing for IoT globally is going the opposite direction of Right to Repair as well.
  8. Dealers serving the Czech Republic likely report up through EMEA. I would be surprised if your dealer works direct with Control4's sales managers. In Europe, KNX is likely the best lighting system you can get with compatibility with Control4 besides Control4 branded lighting.
  9. *If* the law does not allow for exceptions, covers configuration software, and requires access given to consumers and not just B2B. Typically it means individual hardware components on a single device, not the communication between a network of integrated devices.
  10. Right to repair only means that independent businesses can have access. Restricting access based on having a certified business is not the complaint of right to repair. The dealer model would suffice while still preventing access to literally anybody.
  11. Out of curiosity, what thermostats were used for that large of a heating/cooling system? What pool controller do you have? What model of video doorbell do you have? Sorry for your experience, most, if not all, of your complaints would change if you found a dealer and professional you trusted. If I had that big of a house, I think I'd have more important things to do than tinker with my smart system and would be hiring it out to someone I trust even though I am very technical and could do it myself. Time is limited, so it should be spent wisely.
  12. Control4's zigbee is encrypted with proprietary keys, so not possible. The two will have to stay separate meshes.
  13. Or were you meaning a Control4 controller? If so, I have not heard of them catching fire, but they do have overheating protection that will shut the controller off.
  14. That would be quite the fire since it is AWS.
  15. The app authenticates to the cloud even if 4sight does not exist. To set up the app, it requires internet access. Local authentication would shift some security requirements for the local devices and is not something I would prefer to advocate. I'd likely push the opposite and require the cloud for any mobile app, mostly because Android apps need to be a shell on the appstore with no sensitive info inside of it. Apple is much better at preventing reverse engineering of their mobile apps. If you want local control during a cloud outage, I would highly recommend a T3 or T4.
  16. Some drivers for some devices do have wake on lan, but I don't believe I have seen one configurable for a PC.
  17. Best I know of is Shairbridge and using Airplay from a phone. Apple is quite particular about who gets to integrate with their service.
  18. The Luma NVRs and DVRs have no physical reset. For obvious security reasons.
  19. I'll agree to that as well. PCNA is supposed to address that a little, but setting up good networks is an advanced art and finding that specialist can sometimes be difficult.
  20. Just a note on Mesh WiFi and why it is never recommended: A Control4 system relies on multicast and most Mesh systems disable or extremely restrict multicast. You might have internet, but that uses unicast. Mesh APs are okay when not configured in mesh, and instead are configured as individual APs with a wire going back to a central switch. I'm not at all surprised you have issues because your phone likely can't find the Control4 system due to the multicast being blocked. (The app uses multicast to find the system). Most IT specialists hate multicast because they don't know how to properly configure a network for it and they don't use products that need it. If you ask any corporate IT specialist, they'll tell you they disable multicast and set up specific routes for unicast traffic. Smart home systems require a significantly more capable network engineer to set the network up properly.
  21. If encryption, which is not yours, can be decrypted, then it wouldn't be much of an encryption. The answer is: You use the driver SDK and should be able to encrypt and decrypt your own drivers.
  22. It depends on who sold it to you. I know plenty of dealers that are up front about the limitations, quirks, and standard features in order to set appropriate expectations. Totally understand it doesn't match the ultra high def streaming options available on products in the current market, but those systems are dedicated to that purpose rather than being a single location to control everything in a home.
  23. I have seen the Apple Watch used in OS3 by pairing with the phone and sending push notifications. As for the Apple Watch app itself, that was axed for OS3 entirely last I checked, but I'll check again since I last checked back in 3.1.0. iOS session info delays were necessary to try and improve the initial connection time for the app.
  24. I will check if this has been put in our system as a request for the camera driver. Seems like a reasonable request.
