  1. Current legacy (pre-connect) C4 customer with an active 4Sight subscription. If I purchase a Composer HE license, does this still come with the 1 year of 4Sight? Or is this sunset with the 4/23/24 launch of Connect?
  2. I'm using your suggestion and staying with the KA for the stairways. Thank you.
  3. Interesting, as getting quotes to re-due parts of my system, a dealer mentioned changing the C4-FPD120 at the bottom of my garage stairs to a programable keypad with three buttons for scenes, such as Lights, Home, and Away. However, he didn't mentioned anything about changing out the C4-KA. I assume that the C4-KA in the hallway can be switched out for a C4-KC120277? Thank you, as this is why I asked on this forum--getting too much conflicting information with my onsite walkthrough quotes.
  4. Can the C4-KD120 act as a on/off switch instead of dimmer? I currently have a three-way wire for my garage overhead lights. I believe that the switch in the garage is a C4-FPD120 which I am considering changing to a C4-KD120. The 2nd switch for the three-way wiring is a C4-KA. For this wiring situation can the C4-KA be changed with to C4-KC120277. In summary current three way is controlled C4-FPD120 and C4-KA, with my thought to install a C4-KD120 and C4-KC120277? Would this work? As I can repurpose/reprogram the C4-FPD120 and C4-KA in my project.
  5. I just picked that up as my new router, interesting that Ubiquiti tech support is included now. Is this new, as I thought this was a downfall for Ubiquiti? OverC Pro-Giga hub support document states that the Unfi switch line is supported—why wouldn’t C4 provide support? It was on the unsupported ‘black list’ in the past.
  6. My HC-800 controller blew last May 2023, as I was awaiting a wood flooring replacement before upgrading my equipment. Have been paying for 4sight and have a back-up of my system. Will my account be suspended after May 2024 as I wait for the install? Just renewed 4Sight last month. I’ll look out for the 30 day notice e-mail from Snap.
  7. This is the current C4 fan switch in my master bedroom (AC fan) I didn't want to confuse the pictures, thus the 2nd follow-up post. You're saying I could reprogram this switch when I have the DC fan installed and add scene keys such as Music (on/off), TV (on/off). Just not the volume rockers, which I'm OK with as there is a touch panel nearby and remote.
  8. Would a C4-KC120277 work? Sorry as I'm not an electrician by trade trying to understand KC, KD (which is a dimmable programable switch and not appropriate for a fan) and KA . Trying to understand the types of C4 light switches that were installed, as I update from AC to DC fans. Yes, I would like to change the layout of the programmable keys and why I don't want a 'dummy non-control 4 switch' Is the attached photo an example of a KC120277, as the top button controls two AC fans on my porch and the reminder keys are for scenes. I assume I can re-use this light switch (attached photo).
  9. I have been going the DIY route since my original install back in 2014/2015 which was new construction. Have been replacing products when they are outdated and adding Apple HomeKit products as my former C4 dealer was very slow to respond (took weeks to respond to a e-mail after multiple reminders), as in my market the dealers are chasing the new construction and over hundred thousand custom home movie theaters on Kiawah Island and Seabook Island, and very tough to schedule for equipment change out for an existing system. Mater of fact, I'm still on OS 2. Don't mind researching a product to make sure it is the correct match for my project, as when a piece of equipment fails the homeowner should have a basic under standing of how it works after a power cycle fails to fix. I'll pay a premium for a product that works, but as technology advances pricing should drop (except during the pandemic days). For example, a manufacturer that has been able to hold on prices while advancing technology is Apple. We're getting M silicon chips that cost less than the equivalent Intel chips, and a big productivity boost. Circling back that I contacted J Tech regarding the JTD-3081 as an audio extender and their support representative recommend SPDIF as I'm only extending sound to a 2.0 in ceiling speaker set up.
  10. That is correct that you never provided me a quote, as my intention was just to mention you used AV Edge Pro over two years ago, March 2022. Are you still using that product?
  11. Do I just leave the current C4 AC Fan Switch as is when the Modern Forms fan is installed by the electrician? Any direction you can guide me to that summarizes the current C4 light switch offerings, as my switches were installed around 9 years ago? Would make life simpler if C4 had a DC fan switch, similar to the AC Fan switch.
  12. @Cyknight it was posted further up thread that @msgreenfmentioned he uses the AV Edge Pro product, but I only need 2 channel return sound for the 2.0 inch ceiling speakers located in the keeping room off of the kitchen, rear porch and master bedroom (my two 7.1 and one 7.1.2 zones are powered by AV receivers). I’m not considering the $10 Amazon option, as the Cat5e cable was roughed in during construction 10 years ago by my former C4 dealer from the TV locations back to the C4 rack (original thought was distributed video, but this was prior to steaming). It appears that the J Tech product is a newer to market that is powered by USB C rather than DC/5 V, as I have a support ticket into J Tech if a AC outlet with 2 USB C ports is adequate to power the J Tech audio extender. Yes, it’s pseudo DIY as I’ve chosen to go the remote C4 dealer/programer route for the TV sound, but the speakers are programmed already into my C4 system for streamer music services out.
  13. Reason why Snap One launched Control 4 assist and assist premium to drive additional RMR from service contracts.
  14. How does the DoorBird field of view compare to the Chime? I currently have a 1st generation Door Station. Has anyone come up with a fabrication to flush mount the Chime within the DS rough in back box?
  15. Interesting that Cat 5e to PCA audio baluns are $10 Amazon, whereas a local C4 dealer told me today that he uses AV Pro Edge extenders for $500 a pair (can be found online for $300).
  16. What C4 light switch needs to be spec’d for Modern Forms fans? As my current fan is AC wired to a C4 fan switch. Would a programmable KCB switch work? As I just need forward direction for High, Med, Low, Off. As the remaining two buttons I would prefer to program for music (on 1 tap/off 2 tap), and the 6th as volume up and down.
  17. Sorry if I came across this way. Had a local dealer over today that informed me with C4 launching Connect that networks have to be on Araknsis with the ports labeled and a wiring diagram uploaded to drop box, so the C4 techs have access to the “in and out” of system when contacted. This Diamond dealer told me that issue with Ubiquiti was getting product during the pandemic and lack of human tech support—but had no issues otherwise with Ubiquiti. PS long time > 11 year lurker on this forum, that I decided to sign up (11 yr C4 customer).
  18. That’s what my soon to be ex C4 dealer/installer advised/quoted me and why I’m here. Edit: this is the matrix switch I currently have, as I was planning on upgrading to the current Triad matrix/amps this fall, but appears that I should do this sooner rather than later. Second Edit: Could I use this (JTECH-AET-AS) with the a TS-AMS8-V2?
  19. Interesting conversion/thread as my C4 dealer recommended Eero last year. I’m surprised with all the negative comments regarding Araknis routers/network switches that C4 dealers post on back channel social media platforms. Ruckus is interesting, but with the WiFi standards changing from WiFi 6E now to 7, as a Ruckus WAP is over $1,500 and WiFi 7 will be outdated in a few years. The typical C4 customer has a large house which will require many WAP’s. The back channel dealers have been recommending UnFi for routers/switches.
  20. Thank you regarding your recommendation of the J-Tech Digital HDMI 2.0 Audio Extractor Converter with Downmix Compatible with Dolby Digital Decoding. I’m in the process of adding three (3) Binary B-260-ARC - Binary Audio Return Extender for HDMI ARC and S/PDIF to my C4 system for the eARC audio output from 1 LG OLED, 1 LG miniLED and 1 samsung LCD for sound returned back to the respective room in ceiling speakers. The speakers are controlled via a C4 8x8 Audio matrix then a C4 amp 8 zone (models are from 2013). I’m assume that I would need three (3) J-Tech products from above to be connected via HDMI cable from the Binary-B receiver HDMI ARC out ? Using RCA cables to connect the J-Tech output to the C4 audio matrix input (I have enough free zones on the C4 audio matrix to add 3 more, as I had dedicated Cat5 pulls from all of the TV locations when the house was build 11 years ago back to my C4 rack, as the original plan was distributed video, but I dropped DirectTV when Sunday NFL Ticket moved to YouTube TV and I have installed Roku sticks on all of my TV’s — more background of my system for the pros reading this) What are the installers view of using a HDMI to RCA cable instead of the J-Tech Digital extractor for the sound output to the C4 audio matrix? Can the Binary B-260-ARC be powered by a Micro-USB to USB wall outlet? I have older 2 port USB with 2 electrical outlets through out my house that I can switch out with the USB C combo outlets? Thank you for your input/advise.
  21. Shouldn’t come as a surprise as Hellman & Friedman LLC bought Snap AV back in 2017 then went on a buying spree including purchasing C4 in 2029, and a multitude of brands that we are all aware of. This is a private equity exit strategy for SnapOne being acquired by Resideo, as Hellmann & Friedman had a 72% ownership interest in Snap One. Today’s investor presentation.
