ash_o_lay
So doing a bit of research and it looks like Somfy blinds or Qmotion generally for the uk unless you want to spend tons on Lutron So the project im working on will have 16 blinds all in one area in 3/6 groups. one of the guys who is working with the interior designers has specified a blind manufacturer he works with Lutron and Somfy motors. the client does not want Lutron down to the cost and it has to be either lutron or control4 within the project, so naturally we liked the control4 route. i have heard multiple things regarding Somfy blinds their noise, drop out and connectivity with control4. have people had many jobs with Somfy blinds Intergratred and what is your impression and issues. Also heard the app wasnt available in the uk and you have to use a VPN to download it & setup first time. is this also true. i cannot get hold of somfy direct to ask the questions. thankyou for the help Ashley
OceanDad
Qmotion are easy to integrate into C4, unless you are also ruling them out for reasons of cost.
tdougray
I have somfy blinds integrated using the somfy RS485 RTS transmitter and have no problems but if you want to use the somfy mylink then yes you will need to go down the VPN route. But I will say I thinks the Qmotion is a quieter motor option.

tonysss13
are people using the battery Q motion's or the powered ones. & are they reasonably priced & how do they integrate with C4?? looking at them my self
Gary Leeds UK
We are using battery ~ work out around £700 per blind had one fail , which Qmotion sorted straight away 1.2m long blind in 5mths only used 12% of battery power
OceanDad
We have the battery QMotion shades, around 20 in total. Rock solid, assuming that you are able to get up to change the batteries ! We have one above a staircase that's really difficult, but the batteries last around a year in normal use it seems. We have one shade that seems to struggle to rejoin the mesh if there's any sort of controller/network outage, and sometimes that one needs to be given a reset and be re-identified. Integration is very simple using the standard C4 QMotion shade driver. There's a shade group driver too, although I haven't bothered with it. In several places I have Lutron Pico remotes controlling the shades, no problem. C4, Lutron SmartBridge Pro and QMotion all integrated together with no discernible delays.
