DS2 Camera/Motion Settings

Recommended Posts

Does anyone having recommendations regarding preferred settings for DS2 motion/cameras?  I have problems where if the thresholds are set too low, no motion is detected (and I receive no alerts) but if the threshold is set too high,  I get a hundred alerts especially on partly sunny days where the sunshine is intermittent.

When I first got my DS2 Mini, I used its motion sensor (which is optical, not PIR), and had the same exact problems.  I concluded that they were unavoidable because of it being optical.  So I ended up adding a regular PIR motion sensor.  I got mine from Axxess Industries.  This works dramatically better, with very rare false positives.  I have it mounted above my door, pointed a bit downwards, and it has been very reliable.  It uses batteries, but they're quite long lasting.  I think it was probably more than a year before I received the notification that they needed to be replaced.

Agree - We use a outdoor Phillip Hue Sensor - makes life a lot easier
