Are there any limitations?

• This driver requires cloud based communications
• This driver will not work with Tuya hub type devices. As such zigbee devices nor ir devices will work.
• This driver polls for feedback once every 10 minutes. Note commands are instant.
• Some devices will not discover. For those devices you can manually import them in however they will be one-way devices only.

I have the outdoor Treatlife ones, and they work well.  Looks like there is indoor as well...all Tuya.

Thanks.  Yes we have made it as easy as possible for integration of the Wifi based Tuya devices into Control4.  It definitely brings down the cost of home automation and provides some unique solutions that were not available before.

Tuya released a new API earlier this year with the plan to replace the old API with this new API.  As such we have rewritten the driver and its now better than ever.

  • CLIMATE - These are HVAC based devices which can include thermostats, split systems, wall furnaces, portable air conditioners, oil heaters and more providing the ability to change HVAC modes, humidity, fan speeds and setpoints with room temperature feedback.

  • BLINDS - These are up, down, stop based devices which can include blinds, curtains and projection screens

  • FAN - These are multi speed fan devices which can include ceiling fans, tower fans and floor fans.

  • LIGHT - These are lighting products which can include on/off lighting loads, dimmable loads and RGB/W loads such as on-wall switches/dimmers, bulbs, strips, spotlights, garden lights, Christmas lights and more. Setting of LED colors is also supported

This looks awesome!  What is the official process for updating agents?  Do they show up in driver update if the cloud driver doesn't update them?

This is a total rewrite of the driver from the ground up.  It is not compatible with the old v1 driver.  Please read the installation guide for details on how to install.

We have some major Announcements with Tuya.

NEW RELEASE - 20211112 [STABLE]

Firstly, we would like to announce the release of 20211112. This is a MAJOR feature release, that we STRONGLY recommend is setup for customers, that adds a few major new features: 

1. Real Time feedback

• Additional setup is required, however, Control4 can now update feedback status in realtime (instead of 2-5min delay via polling) using the Status Notifications API
• The biggest benefit of this  is that if the light is triggered via PIR, or Tuya button, it will turn on instantly in Control4 too, so Control4 will match the device status correctly. This is a major update (and we found that feedback is actually really fast, despite being cloud based). PIR is detected almost instantly.
• You could also use switch relays as triggers for control4 now, without needing to wait minutes for the trigger to occur

 

2. NEW Tuya Sensor Driver.

This driver facilitates triggering Control4 actions from Tuya via RELAY, Button links or contact closure. It supports all boolean, Integer and enumeration variables (and similar to our other drivers, Tuya Variables are also exposed as Control4 variables and the driver can be mixed or matched with others). It also adds easy support for sending notifications. Some examples of use are:

• Turn on Control4 lights when a Tuya PIR is activated
• Trigger a doorbell sound via announcement when a button is pushed
• When the brightness of a light decreases below a certain level (as an example)
• Trigger an announcement in the kitchen when the water kettle has finished boiling (and turned off)

 

3. Blind Levels

Our driver now supports setting percent levels for Tuya Blinds (as requested). Please note, there are caveats (as per the documentation. Some blind controller may not operate correctly). This was made possible only because of the new feedback code.

Our driver won't work with that as its the opposite of what we are doing (TUYA integration of Control4).

G'day Kaas, 

Just letting you know, we haven't come across this device (only online), however,  my suspicions are that it might simply be an Android device which runs a Tuya Client (the Doodle Intelligence app they mention) and there might not be much we can integrate with at all. Sometimes products like these also work a lot better theoretically, than practically (and I've noticed that there don't seem to be any reviews or videos anywhere, so it might be vapourware). 

It's also clear-cut case of copyright infringement, so I suspect we'll never see it internationally (any distributor willing to touch this would do so expecting to have to fight a lawsuit).

Just to confirm Alan - if a product provides WiFi control through the Smart Life app then it is Tuya-based and compatible with this driver?  Looking at a wall-mounted electric heater that offers WiFi control via the Smart Life app and want to make sure I could integrate using your driver.....
