Hi guys,

I just received a sonos one as a gift. and now I want to integrate it to Control4.

I just added using SDDP, but IDK how to do the sonos one appear as option (music or listen) in the room.

Do you know of some guide to do it?

Thnk´s

I'm still waiting to find out what value a response of "you should know how to do this if you legitimately have access to Pro" or "talk to your dealer"  adds to this site? At some point this needs addressed in the site rules:

  • Assume anyone who asks a composer pro questions has legitimate access and treat them as such by either offering to help or ignoring/stop helping if a user believes they dont really have access

or

  • Make users prove through the site settings somehow that they have legit access

There are other locations for dealers to get this sort of info readily. So yeah, I disagree that the assumption should be 'they have legitimate access' - it should be the other way around, because why are you asking that specific question on HERE. As for site settings about legitimate access, it used to exist in the old 'dealer' tag but that was years ago. It's also a public site, so there should be no requirement to join as such - but don't expect dealers to answer PRO limited binding questions etc.

Even IF the person' asking is legit - the info access is not limited to him/her - meaning that one could argue that even answering those questions in detail on a publicly accessible site is at best a grey area when it comes to possible NDAs and agreements.

would love point 2 to be in action.  its a great idea.  Delivery on the other hand....admin overhead to manage that process and this is a a free site (vetting the dealership is really c4 licensed, labeling it so on the site, what if they lose a dealership who knows to remove their title, etc).

Re: Point 1, if this was a legit dealer I still dont know why they wouldn't use the dealer only forum or use C4's tech help support available to dealers.  I'd assume (and I've assumed wrong before) that an end user dedicated forum would not be the place to ask for Composer Pro help.

Then the site rules need to say no Composer Pro questions.

No it doesn't, that's the point - anyone who legitimately has Pro would/should know these other venues exist and the restrictions that exist.

A public site shouldn't have to explicitly state that confidential (let alone illegal) information is not to be posted or requested.

At any rate, this is getting waaaay out of hand.

I hinted at the right way of looking at a Sonos speakers, msfgreen pointed it out further - good enough.

I was not pretending to generate this discussion. I just wanted to contact with experts like you, specially because for some reason the search machine in C4 dealers site was not working.

I apologize if my dumb question (and valid for me) created some disconfort with some of you.

Anyway, I appreciate your replies.

thank you @msgreenf

Yeah I have never seen a forum on the internet give a warning about sharing copyrighted or illegal material.....

All it takes is adding a couple of lines in the site FAQ. It is addressed in the site rules that Composer Pro is not to be asked for or shared so someone can do the same for asking Composer Pro questions. Half the posts on this site are condescending remarks to people asking these questions. It will at least take the ambiguity out of this site and about what kind of support is offered here.

The site faq?  I’ve been on here 7-8 years and had no clue there is a faq section.  I’m serious.   It could be here but most people find a forum and post - not sure they check the faq

should be a few stickies with a clear title with any pertinent rules.  The one about asking for Pro is in likely the used visited sub forum here

You are correct. The description of the "Site Discussions" sub forum says "Site Announcements, Discussions, FAQ, Help & More". So maybe there was at one time.

All the more reason for someone to establish one.
