Homebridge vs. Chowmain TCP vs. other solutions

What can a full Homebridge installation do that the Chowmain TCP driver can't?  Is it just seeing state information in the iOS Home app?

My intended use is mainly to trigger various lighting changes from Siri, Watch, and iPhone.  ("Turn off all lights."  "Turn on kitchen lights."  etc.)

Thanks!

Yes, to circle back to this, I ended up starting with the TCP driver and it is doing everything I need it to so far. Set up was really easy.

Yep for those who haven’t done it before we have a guide on how to do it on our website.  Only limitation is they it will only work on your own network (unless you port forward which we don’t recommend).

For me, it only working locally is part of the beauty, as I like the security inherent with this. Another super reliable driver from your team - thanks @alanchow!

I believe the answer is that each family member's phone needs to have the shortcuts; iOS does not appear to automatically sync shortcuts between family members.  I've been texting the shortcuts I want my kids to have access to.  Here are various ways to share: https://www.imore.com/how-share-your-shortcuts-others-and-how-add-shared-shortcuts.
