Tilt Blind Motor recommendation

Recommended Posts

Have two blinds in a nursery that wife wants tied into C4. Looking to retrofit (so battery) and just control tilt on a schedule or with wireless keypad.

Have looked at a somfy solution. Any thoughts? Any better or easier ideas?

I have Soma Smart tilt and there is a Chowmain driver to integrate. @alanchow

How big is the wall wart?

Here is the raspberry pi (soma connect) that gives google/Alexa control and would be necessary to add to control4. You only need one for the house unless the windows are too far from the controller.

This seems significantly cheaper than somfy, but it also is less contained and not as clean. I like that somfy has the mechanism inside the top of the blind and the batter can still fit inside the frame behind the top of the blind, lasting upwards of up to a year.

True, I wanted to go that route but it's been advantages to just pull the connector off and put the wand back on. When you install the somfy, the tilt mechanism is completely removed. You are definitely going through the same thought process I did. Lol

Are you aware of this part? I haven't tried it, but very economical.

I use these motors in one room of my house that already had traditional wooden slat blinds.  They work well.  I had to have one motor replaced (under warranty) and the newer revision of them is MUCH quieter.

Is there a way to know which version I'm ordering? What battery method are you using?

The new revisions of the motors look different.  The ones pictured in the link that RAV posted are the new ones.

I just use the battery tube that holds AA batteries.  It's easy to hide the tube in the window frame.
